Recently moved from a 28` CRT to a 37` plasma and, with the normal RGB / Scart cable, the PS2 looked pretty poor. Changing to this component cable made a massive difference, as commented by the other reviewers - almost like buying a new console! OK, maybe not, but you get the idea. Crisp clear picture, no sign of any lines or interference. One point to note though, you cant just plug and play - you have to go into the PS2 setup first and change the display output, otherwise youll get sound but no picture.

Reviewed by: Amazon Reviewer Rating:  Date Reviewed: 11Feb2009 | | | Bought these and arrived just the other day, These cables have made one hell of a difference, I wasnt expecting much after reading these reviews, but I was very pleasantly surprised. All the games I still play on my PS2 Slim (Killzone, Gran Turismo 4, Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3) look fantastic, and even the Playstation 2s Dashboard looks crisp and clean. I was concerned since the ps2 is plugged into a 50` LG Plasma HD-TV, but it really looks good and no blockiness, however (as mentioned by previous reviewer) there are still slight jaggies sometimes, but you have to remember.....the PS2 is still last gen gaming so dont expect 1080p HD Picture quality.
At the price, 100% worth the purchase if your still an avid Playstation 2 user.

Even so I was extremely surprised to see the results after plugging the connectors into my TV - the picture was so much more sharp and the colours were much better defined. I almost felt like Id upgraded to the next generation of consoles... I had no problems with the lines on screen mentioned in another review - this may be TV specific. If you have a good quality TV with component ports then you should definitely get this cable.

Using a RGB scart on a LCD TV dosent give a very good picture,its very blurry and the colours are way off in some games,its almost like using the AV cable that came in the box.Once youve set your PS2 to the right setting it will then automatically display in 576i.
The picture is very sharp and the colours and contrast are much better than a RGB on a conventional TV.Heres the pros and cons,On games that can output in progressive scan (Primal,Ghosthunter,Project Zero 3 and a few others)the picture is amazingly sharp and defined with only minimal `jaggies` round the edge of things,On the other hand,some games are very pixellated with the worst offenders I have being:Anything by Free Radical(except Timesplitters 1,TS2 isnt that bad but Future Perfect is awful),Broken Sword(when the characters are very small)and by far is Virtua Fighter 4 which is very jagged on conventional TV but even worse through a LCD/Component cable.
On the whole the picture is much better with most games looking very good,Headhunter:Redemption is incredible and even `oldies`like Deus Ex,Half Life and Red faction look crisp,only few games still retain noticeable `jaggies`
The biggest drawback is that PSone games can no longer be used as they cant display properly,if at all.Even using a RGB scart lead through a LCD TV results in a picture that flickers at the bottom.
Ultimately its a bit late in the day to be worrying about what a last gen machine(and further back!) looks like through a component cable but its worth knowing.
