`A electronics & photo fan` has it right. This is the sweet spot in mobile phone history! If you prize elegant functionality over bells and whistles this is still an excellent phone. The display is black & white backlit, which illuminates when you need it and goes out later, no clever fade, its either lit or it aint. The buttons are raised so you can key it by touch, and the controls are 10 numeric keys, *, #, up, down, ok and cancel. I still dont get phones that have ok cancel PLUS on and off hook buttons, though I guess it does get a little stressful on the 3330 trying to use the menus during a call... youre never quite sure whether you hung up on your party until you put the phone back to your ear!
Battery life is a problem since the model is so old the batteries are getting poorly.
The predictive text is slow by modern standards, but power up and down are quick.
All functions are reachable by up down ok cancel, or the power user can use numeric key presses to access menus quickly. menu-2-1 composes a txt, menu-2-2 goes to text inbox.
The number of texts and number of contacts are very limiting by modern standards and contacts can only have name and number, which means you have to come up with your own conventions for `home/work/mobile` and cant store peoples emails in the phone.
Tones are simple (no crazy frog here). No camera, simple games.
If you, like me, are skeptical about convergent technology and would like a phone for phone calls and texts, I can still recommend this classic of functional design.

Its easy to use, has hardly any pointless/useless features, its tough (mines survived three years of drunken nights out in perfect working order), its a good size, stylish and affordable. It is a testament to the stupidity of mobile phone companies in general that this phone is increasingly difficult to find, although the way mines going, I dont think Ill ever need to buy a new one. Perfection!
Reviewed by: Amazon Reviewer Rating: Date Reviewed: 21Feb2004 | | | this is a great nifty phone the battery is wierd as some times itll last 6 days no calls others 1 day no calls. how the hell you are meant to swap the covers with out breaking the old one off beats me as the white button on the back is uselesss and it aint just my phone either.
