Fulfill your musical needs with the unlocked Sony Ericsson W910i quad-band phone, which comes packed with the easy-to-use Walkman 3.0 digital audio player. It also includes Sony Ericsson's innovative shake to shuffle feature, which randomly chooses another song stored on your phone with just a flick of the wrist. You'll also enjoy high-speed downloads thanks to the high-speed UMTS/HSDPA 3G connectivity (for international 3G networks). Phone Features The W910i Walkman phone offers a full-function digital audio player that's compatible with MP3 and AAC files. The front of this slider phone includes dedicated music control buttons, and it includes Sony Ericsson's innovative shake to shuffle feature. With Shake control activated, press and hold the Walkman key and flick your wrist. A vibration lets you know that the track has been changed--a new song from your current playlist is randomly selected and automatically played. With the TrackID service, you can identify any song that you can hear by just recording a snippet of sound using the microphone. After sending the file for recognition, you'll have the name, artist and album sent to your phone. Other Walkman features include MegaBass enhancement for added depth of sound, a flight mode that lets you keep listening to tunes with the phone's network connectivity turned off, and Disc2Phone software for easy transfer of song files between phone and PC. It also includes a built-in FM radio with RDS, which displays the name of the currently playing song (when tuned to compatible radio stations). This phone provides Bluetooth version 2.0 wireless connectivity with EDR (enhanced data rate), and includes profiles for communication headset, handsfree car kits, and audio/video remote control. With the A2DP Bluetooth profile, you can stream your music to a pair of compatible Bluetooth stereo headphones. First of all, the phone works okay, but it is very flimsy and the back cover slides off with little pressure.
But my bigger complaint is with the `Walkman` features of this phone. Files have to be converted to the phones format using the Disc2Phone software. The software is relatively easy to use, but quite slow. However, it cannot deal with albums. All music is put onto the phone in artist order, and there is no way to sort the songs in an album together. You can create a playlist, but this can only be done on the phone, and takes far too long. So if you transfer an album which has different artists for different songs, the songs will be scattered across the phone. Now if it sorted by album artist, this might not be so bad, but it sorts by song artist. Even on an album by a single artist, the song artist will often be different, because it includes other musicians who play on the track.
If you want a phone which works well as a music player, then dont buy this phone, and dont buy any phone which uses Disc2Phone software (which is pretty much all Sony Walmkan phones).
Reviewed by: Amazon Reviewer Rating:  Date Reviewed: 11May2009 | | | This phone does a bit of everything - it has a camera, video camera, a very good MP3 music player, sound recorder, FM radio, games, calculator, timer, stopwatch, countdown timer etc along with the usual phone functions of text messaging with a good predictive text function, address book, organiser and the ability to actually make and receive phone calls.
Despite its impressive and extensive feature list, the photos and video clips are only of low resolution and to listen to the radio you have to use the included Sony headphones with their proprietory connection plug which is expensive to replace if lost. As expected of a Sony product, the sound quality of both the radio and MP3 player is very good.
There are many unexpected features such as photo effects mode and a simple but basic editing facility which will add effects such as warping photographs. The guitar string tuner was also quite a surprise but Im not sure how useful this is in practice for a typical phone user!
The menu layout is both intuitive and logical although navigation can be quite fiddly using the tiny joystick button which will be even more fiddly for anyone with larger fingers. Battery life could also be better - I get about 3-4 days standby or 2-3 hours talktime.
In summary, this is a very good all-rounder phone which does a bit of everything and I think you would struggle to match the phone in terms of quality, build and range of features for its budget price. However, if youre looking for a phone to take quality photos then this isnt the one for you and youll benefit from a more expensive model.
