HANNSGHW191DThis is a wide-aspect screen and it streches everything sideways, including images. So it is OK to use if just reading/writing documents, but disappointing when viewing photographs, as you just know your family members do not look like that!!! So far I have not found a setting that will allow me to view these in the 4:3 aspect. If I can, I will be returning my unit. 4 out of 5Anon06/10/2006 07:46:19

AcerAC901Bought this monitor second hand to go with a 1 GHz Mirror Door G4 PowerMac. You would think the monitor had been made for this computer. Contrast and brightness is excellent, but above all it displays digital photographs beautifully. The display is sharp right from corner to corner with no apparent light fall-off at the edges. Highly recommended. 5 out of 5longfulan04/03/2007 16:45:03

HEWLETT PACKARDM703Brilliant colours with sharp imaging. On Screen Display controls are superb. Installing was simple, and the information provided with the accompanying disk explains clearly how to customize any settings.

Complete with it's own "intelligence" to let you know when a recommended resolution should be set when operating various applications that try to deviate from your personal settings. A complete set of .INF, .ICM (drivers) are available from a service pack downloadable at http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/files/monitors/m703.html. Provides it's own power management and standby configurations which are also updateable through OSD. The only drawback that one could possibly find is it's size in comparison to LCD type flat displays.

I highly recommend this CRT.

Hansol920PMy Hansol 920P has been a very good monitor, given its low price. It looks best at 1280x960@85Hz. The screen is a little curved and it has always displayed a slight moire pattern, but not enough to notice in normal use. After 5 years of use (2002 to 2007) the color convergence is slightly off: I can`t find a way to fix this using the OSD (on screen display). 4 out of 5Anon11/06/2007 09:29:14

PROVIEWCY767Nice unit, but has 2 quirks. 1/ the power `brick` can die. Who cares, just bleed 12v dc off the host pc. Its made easey as the dc input is in the vga plug, nice & close to the pc anyway. 2/If it develops a `ghost in the machine`(no picture, just grey splurge), pop the back ( power off folks!) & short across the pins of each of the electrolytic capacitors. This kills any residual which may keep the `ghost` alive in the onboard chip. Its only happened once. 4 out of 5John Goodsell17/12/2006 12:30:30

PROVIEWCY765owned it for just over a year now. Bought it for £140 last July. Pretty good for the price. Has run fine for me although one of the speakers doesn`t work. Doesn`t matter though because I don`t use them. It decides not to turn on sometimes after turning it off when when my PC is on. I then have to remove and re-connect the power supply. No other problems besides the ones mentioned. 4 out of 5Chima N26/11/2006 21:51:17

ADVENTADV-174FThis Monitor was a good value buy.

The monitor itself is good build quality and looks good. However I did notice some power supply problems shown by the border of the screen fluxuating when a lighter page comes up on Windows and also when the monitor is under stress e.g. when lots of things of brightness are shown at one time. This may not be so bad but also the borders are impossible to get straight due to this. It is, to it's defence, the clearest screen I have come across.

EMACHINESEM-171I've got one and it seems fine.

Just one thing to note though, if you run a monitor diagnostic on it it's described as a ProView PTS0301. If you go to the emachines or Proview websites there's no mention of either machine (no advice, no drivers, FAQ's etc) so it looks like you're on your own if you buy it.

Works fine as a Windows Plug and Play monitor though.

COMPAQS910A neighbor threw out a Compaq S910, and I liberated it from the curb. Much to my surprise, it works reasonably well. The picture is reasonably good. The controls, while not the easiest to use, are functional. If you find one in the trash, it`s probably worth grabbing.

LGF700POkay monitor. Truly flat screen inside and out but screen image geometry mediocre. Both of mine have slightly bowed horizontal lines. (LG are asking for trouble by printing “Distortion Free” on the carton). QC is also suspect as one monitor appears 20 units (out of 100) brighter than the other. The brightness of this unit cannot be reduced enough to result in correct calibration with Adobe. Colour saturation is good, but small text legibility only average, both reflecting its slot mask construction.

AcerAL1912Although it is very bright, this monitor has several very annoying characteristics that make it not worth owning, The response time is too slow to watch movies with a lot of action, or to play any sort of fast game. There is an unacceptable drift with temperature which causes the picture to drift to the side when it gets warm. There is a related moire pattern which you can`t correct with the clock adjustment. In some cases it goes out of sync and the picture jumps to the right, leaving one-third of the screen black. If I`d known these things before, I never would have bought this monitor. 2 out of 5freddyzdead26/10/2007 15:09:52

PROVIEWMA782KCThis Monitor looked absolutely perfect when purchasing , the screen size was just right , it was sleek and took up very little space on the workstation which is always a good thing if your desk gets messy like mine is inclined to. After 13 months ( yes , 1 month after the warranty ended ) It started taking a little longer to fire up. At first it took approximately 45 seconds , after consequetive boot ups the fire up time extended. Until 15 months after purchase , it failed to come on at all. Getting answers as to why a 15 month old monitor should decide to pack up was like getting blood out of a stone , except I was told ``oh yes , this is a very common problem with this monitor`` ???? ...Then why for heavens sake sell it , knowing they are poor value for money . To conclude , I was unable to get a replacement due to the 3 months over the warranty , They offered to repair it for a standard charge of £79 but only gave a 3 month warranty on the repair. Obviously I declined their `kind` offer. 1 out of 5Adam PR29/11/2007 09:15:19

ADVENTMA782KBought October 2005 with Compaq Presario system from large PC retailer; our first TFT and no problem to start with. Soon developed a dim spot in top corner but was still useable. Now,(July 2007), out of warranty, almost dead - start up takes about 15mins of vertical coloured lines, then desktop becomes visible but very dim. I`m appalled that a £170 monitor lasted only a year and a half. Be warned - a rubbish product from a firm that doesn`t care. 1 out of 5BWD26/07/2007 18:24:19

PROVIEWCY-565We bought an XP Media Center from PC World. We had a problem immediately. We had lots of Help line calls but ended up taking it back to the store. They did not even take it off the trolley, telling us it was a software problem. We spent £100 getting someone to look at the problem. It turned out to be a TV tuner malfunction. Now the Proview 17` Monitor is a problem. The screen now has a coloured `bar code` which races vertically for some time. It eventually slows down and the screen opens - even though it is rather dark. If it is on `standby` sometimes we lose it again. We have only had it 16 months and it will have to be repaired or replaced. We are very unhappy and would advice anyone not to buy Proview or deal with PC World`. 1 out of 5Strawberry Jam09/03/2007 10:55:41

RelisysTE988Do not buy this! this monitor is recommended resolution of 1280x1024 but it cannot even be used ar 1024x768. It is only effective at 800x600 and even then there are problems. The whole image jumps every time I open, close or move a window. There are also problems towards the edges of the screen with all text out-of-focus. There is also shading from the tube visible on the screen, something I might call vignetting.

On the whole this is a terrible monitor and is totally useless for the intended purposes. I wish I had kept my old 17" monitor - it was much more effective!
