Give it a miss! As a complete beginner I found that Guitar Method doesnt teach the fundamental skills that you need to become a guitar player and (almost as bad) its really boring!

This program offers a very comprehensive approach to learning guitar. A typical lesson includes a close up video of a guitar skill followed by a song or two to practice. The progression is very logical and easy to follow. As the songs get more challenging, there are some great features like the ability to slow the song down or loop sections of the song.
I have looked at other software, such as Charranga and I must say that it is no where near as comprehesive and the lesson content and song content do not touch eMedia. The additional featurea in eMedias software, such as the Automatic Tuner, Animated Fretboard, Recorder, Chord Dictionary and Scale Directory are invaluable.
I would definitely recommend eMedia to anyone looking to learn Guitar.

I saw Guitar Method at the Musiclive show and after using it think its great! It got me up to speed on all the basics quickly - I could tune up to the computer and was playing songs right away. It was easy to follow and the lessons progressed naturally. Soon I was following along with the animated fretboard as it stepped me through playing hit songs from Bob Dylan and more. With over 150 lessons there was plenty of material that I was enjoying for months, I especially liked the sections on rock, blues and fingerpicking.
I also tried Guitar Coach but found it confusing and poorly laid out. The basics are not covered well and its more of a collection of random lessons than a real teaching method. It also does not have an automatic tuner or an animated fretboard.
