BUFFET B12 CLARINET.
Having taught many beginners as part of a music service I have seen the struggle that children experience with cheap badly made instruments. Unplayable after a few weeks because the keys are made very soft metal that bends as you play it.Dont waste your money and your childs opportunities to demonstrate their musical talent by buying a cheap chinese clarinet.
The Buffet B12 sounds like a proper clarinet, plays in tune and has strong keys. Out of the ten grade 8 passes my pupils have achieved two were on the B12. Changing the mouthpiece to a Selmer C85 120 or Vandoren allows it to do the highest grades.
It wont sound like a wooden clarinet or be as loud as a professional instrument that will cost 6 to 10 times the price of a B12.
It is an incredible bargain for those whose talent is bigger than their piggy bank.
Even as a beginner dont skimp on reeds.
Grand Concert select strength 2 to begin.
Then 2 1/2 as soon as you can blow it so you can get to the top
Pros play 3 1/2 or 4 because they have jaws like a rottwieler!
Dont puff your cheeks cos it causes squeeeks!

The first clarinet i bought was a different cheaper model, that was recommended to me, my son realy struggled to even get a half decent note with it. After discussions with his teacher I bought him a Buffet B12. I was amazed at his playing! Dont wast your money on the cheaper option, you may put your budding musician off for life!!!

I learnt on one of these and have had it 2 years now and i hasnt let me down. (These things age beautifully, mine hasnt let my down despite regular playing and the odd drop!) My teacher recomended it to me, I payed £429 from my local musical store, it seems i missed a trick seeing as this is on here for far less.
My advice, buy it you shalnt regret it!
