PS2 Games Review 27 October 2008
Following on from the success of the original, Manhunt 2 sees the return of the dark and brooding psychological narrative thriller series to the PlayStation 2. A secret research facility is the site of an experiment gone badly wrong and the only two surviving patients must escape the laboratory before the people responsible for putting them there find out they're still alive. Dripping with tension, this is atmospheric gameplay at its very best and should have gamers on the edge of their seats as they try to uncover the truth in a world of clandestine scientific research.
Tying in with the release of one of the most highly-anticipated films of the year, James Bond 007: Quantum of Solace sees the world's best-known secret agent emerge from the wreckage of Casino Royale as a broken figure. His physical scars may have healed but make no mistake, Bond is damaged goods as he tries to track down the truth behind the death of his beloved Vesper Green. As the film pushes the boundaries of his character, this game immerses the player in the new depths of tactical gameplay, inhabiting the world of Her Majesty's finest with level of detail unseen in games of this type before.
Finally, for football fans out there the arrival of the new instalment of this gaming series is greeted with the same kind of fervour as the start of the actual season. Pro-Evolution Soccer 2009 promises to be bigger, better and even more realistic than its last outing with an improved game engine, even sharper graphics and the control system is rumoured to be even slicker and more responsive than ever before. For football nuts and serious gamers alike, this is one not to be missed.
