Projectors Review 08 May 2008
With the summer approaching, many people's minds could be turning to the potential spectacle posed by the Beijing Olympic games and the Euro 2008 football tournament. But there are more immediate events coming up too, such as the Champions League final and, of course, the Eurovision Song Contest. A projector could be just the way to get in on the big-screen action without having to leave home. The Pioneer Elite KURO projector is one option for anyone concerned about an unclear image when projecting on to a wall or screen. The company explains that the device has been designed to achieve industry-leading levels of black, ensuring the picture does not have the washed-out feel that inferior projectors may produce.
Meanwhile, Epson has a range of new projectors available including the Epson PowerLite 6110i, which could be ideal for anyone hard of hearing. Among the features this model provides which may not be available on other products is support for closed captioning, meaning there should be no need for an external decoder. Epson adds that the lifecycle of the product is extended by the use of a lamp with a typical lifespan of 4,000 hours and advanced filtering systems to help ensure only clean air is passed through the unit in order to cool it down.
Also from the company is the Epson PowerLite 1825 which offers a little extra freedom by virtue of its wireless capabilities. Windows Vista users can therefore stream content directly to the projector, rather than trailing a cable to the rear of the unit - which could prove ideal should the device be ceiling-mounted or far away from the base computer being used. If making your mind up is proving difficult in the run-up to the Eurovision Song Contest, the deciding factor could be the fact that this model does not need a computer at all to play back multimedia content, but can access files on USB and CompactFlash memory cards. © Adfero Ltd | |
