GTA IV 'breaks records' 07 May 2008
Grand Theft Auto IV has had a record-breaking post-launch run so far, according to developer Take-Two Interactive.
The company has revealed that sales of the game represent the highest ever recorded for both the first day and the first week of availability.
On the first day alone 3.6 million copies were sold, with the figure rising to six million by the end of the week.
Strauss Zelnick, chair of Take-Two, comments: "We knew Grand Theft Auto IV would break new ground in terms of the player's experience."
He adds: "Now it has broken sales and rating records as well."
For some, the breakdown of sales may be more intriguing, as Microsoft noted in a press release.
The company - which produces the Xbox 360 console - pointed out that sales on the platform had exceeded those for the PS3 by 20 per cent in the UK over the first week of its launch. © Adfero Ltd | |
