By the way, Im using my dads account for this, thats why the name and all that.
I got animal crossing for my birthday, amongst other things-including a dsi, Ive done a review for that too- and it was okay. Its sort of...boring at the very beginning, you have to just do jobs for a racoon named Tom Nook, you cant properly explore, and when you try to talk to the little animal things, they just say stuff about its nice to meet you.
But after you muscle your way through the boring part, youre simply in a world of your own! You need to get a bit of money first, but its easy to work out how to do it- if you have the ds version its a doddle with the controls and the gameplay. The town youre in is about 10 times the size of the ones you get in Wild World (DS version), so more exploration, etc. I was eager to get to the city, but dont be expecting something huge and full of shops bursting with people. Its very small but also quite interesting. Theres an auction shop, a designer shop, a hairdressers, even a theatre where you can learn new emotions. Children will love it. Its a good game but it gets so...repetitive so quickly. At least you can interact with the characters, send them letters, take part in community activities, etc. It was a very interesting game for a while and I still play on it now, but I was expecting something a little different from Wild World.
What I mean is, if you want a new game with new characters and new gameplay, you will be very unhappy with your new game- if you just want an extension with lusher graphics and a new place to go, this is perfect.
Overall, 7/10.
Thankyou for reading!!!!!- a thirteen year old girl

I own Animal crossing: Wild World and Lets go to the City, and I was shocked: The two games are identical (despite the 2yr+ release date gaps)! Okay sure, theres a city, but the only new thing youll find there is a new clothes shop (but the products sold here were available on the old games anyway) and an auction house, but to be honest, youll make more money selling your stuff to Nook (the local shop keeper) anyway! This overall is a very lazy effort from nintendo, and even though the town is slightly bigger and the museum and fish variety is better, the graphics look like less than a weeks worth of work: copy the ds graphics and sharpen them up!
This game is a huge disapointment and Im through with this franchise!

Yes ive given this game 3 stars, maybe if i could use half a star that would go on too...

Its hard for me to believe i havent even been playing Animal Crossing for a year yet. I started with Wild World in July last year, then got this one on the day it came out in December (thanks Amazon!) i also joined a fantastic site and have learnt so much about the game it feels like ive been playing longer.

Now, i love WW for my DS. I love the interaction with the animals, i also love waiting for a new townie and wondering who it will be. I love the small-ness (if thats a word) of my little, private town too, and the portability of it. i havent stopped playing it since i got AC-LGTTC. But this review isnt for WW so i will crack on...

Ok, the reason i didnt give LGTTC more than 3 1/2 is for quite a few reasons really. i was quite annoyed they didnt call it the US version which is simply City Folk. And they didnt make enough changes to the game. its still the same old AC. Which for many people, i know, is good, but they could of changed simple things like the colour of the floor in the museum or changed colours in the town hall. Made little touches like that. The City itself is ok, but not something you need to visit all the time, its quite a small area really. Only so much you can do there. The grass! Well that has made a lot of people not very happy! It wears away, a little thing Nintendo have named `Animal Tracks` its supposed to help you have paths to the most frequented areas like Nooks. Its clearly not been tested out properly. What the developers forget is that to truly experience AC in all its glory, you have to explore all of the town to get your fossils, take out the weeds, water flowers, plant trees, catch bugs, fish etc. So in next to no time your town is like a desert. And this can affect bugs, like the grasshopper not appearing. Thankfully i knew this before starting my game so i could lay out paths myself to frequented areas and so i have kept quite a lot of my grass by sticking to those. Im also taking advantage of the fact that in Spring and Summer grass grows back quicker than in the snowy Winter (although its still slowwwww but faster if you plant flowers) so i have planted more flowers around the edges of my paths and this has helped. So when Autumn and Winter come i should have nice grass. Also the animals in LGTTC dont seem to be as nice as they are in WW. I mean they dont seem to care about friendship. Another big factor is that you cant collect their pictures in this one like you can in WW so there doesnt seem to be any incentive to make friends/talk/write to them. Although i still talk to them, just dont write so much. And they are more repetitive in this one, and they dont have hobbies really. They just ask you to find fossils/clothes etc. give you a couple of days and then feel sad if you havent managed to get them what they want. There are more things im not keen on but i should stop there.

And i know, it just sounds like i dont like the game at all, but i do, there are good points to it. Its probably great if you have never played AC before and dont compare it to the others. It does have good points. Wifi is still there, although i can only visit others, i cant get visitors but i think i have a dodgy disc, im not changing it now that Dibley (my town) is looking lovely. I dont have wiispeak but its nice hearing other people, especially Americans :P Holidays like Christmas and Easter are back so i really like that aspect. The tool shift using your D-pad, i really love that about it. And the graphics are better but i still think WW has great graphics! You can change Tom Nooks store too, so once you get Nookingtons, every month he will ask you what you look for in a store and depending on the answer you can get the store to change so the options are - variety =Nookingtons, balance =Nookway, good hours = Nook n Go, nothing much = Nooks Cranny. So i like that and since Nookingtons is only open till 9pm, ive downgraded to Nook n Go which is open from 7am - 1am and that will be great in Summer catching all those late night, expensive bugs. :D

So, for me i do prefer WW. But there are aspects of each game that i wish was in the other. I still say get the game. I do enjoy playing it despite my negatives. Thats all, if you have the game or are getting it, enjoy :)

My daughter has this game on her DS but I decided to buy it for the Wii (due to the screen being too small on the DS for me to play too!)
It is a brilliant game. Infact, I play it more than my daughter (much to her annoyance!)
If I had realised before hand, I wouldnt have bought it with the Wii Speak as I dont intend using it connected (hindsight is a wonderful thing!)
A truly brilliant game.

I bought this game a few weeks ago now. When it arrived I looked at the box and thought it looked babyish. But when I played it everything changed. You start off as a newcomer to the village(that you name) and gradually earn more money(by selling at Nooks Cranny).

The game is also great with friends as this game is compatible with wii speak. There are no goals or high scores to aim to so you can just enjoy making your town better.

The overall comment I have is that it is not babyish and is a good game for wii.

Animal crossing is a quirky series that started all the way on the N64 as Animal forest, basically its kind of like the sims but with animal characters instead of people and believe it or not this formula actually works quite well. Basically you control a character which you can name, and move into a town which you also can name. You manage how your town operates, try and earn money to pay off your mortgage and try and find rare items for your house.

One of the new features is that you can now take your character into the city, where you can take part in auctions to buy items, watch shows in the theatre amongst other things and as a whole the game is quite relaxing. Although its a little dissapointing as the game is hampered by the wiis limitations and setup as a console.

For instance if you wanna play with friends, you can with up to four people but in order to do so you need to register those rediculous friend codes which is tedious affair compared to the xbox live approach where u just press a button then your done.

The wii speak microphone is a nice idea but its arkward getting the thing stuck on the tv, especially if its a flatscreen where i had to improvise with stick tack to keep it in place. Nintendo i would have prefered a headset to talk to friends, the sound quality is ok but it aint exactly a replacement for Skype on the pc. For the money i would just get the game on its own and the mincrophone seperately when more games are compatible.

Heres a summary of Pros and Cons:

Pros: *A relaxing experience that has the potential to last years.
*The city feature is a nice touch that adds incentive to play.
*The rotating globe prespective is improvement of GC version.

Cons: *Friend Codes are a nightmare to play with each other.
*Wii speak device is seldom supported at the moment.
*This version doesnt take the series anywhere new from previous versions.

So personally if you never played a version before, id give it a shot. Otherwise you may wanna give this version a miss as it dont take the series to new heights as promised at E3. Thanks for reading.

I find as a mum that this game is fun for all the family, I mean even I can play it !! The game has encouraged healthy competition along with the idea of sharing:-)

However the game also encourages my kids to think about the environment, helping people out, saving and the ideas around finances and family life.

Would very much recommend this game to children and adults alike!!

One thing Nintendo has grasped is what makes their Animal Crossing series so popular, what they dont seem to have grasped however is how to KEEP the games they make fresh and exciting. Animal Crossing: Lets go to the City is by no means a bad game, just as the previous title Animal Crossing: Wild World wasnt bad. Its simply when Im asked how its improved over its predeccesors that I begin struggling for words, I mean, yes, theres the clear graphical improvement, but then thats not much when you consider that Wild World was for the Nintendo DS. Nintendo seems to have made a few game play tweaks here and there, but nothing that really adds anything new to the game, which regrettably is why I have stopped playing this within a month or so of buying it.

Now Im sure anybody taking the time to read this review is wondering why I have complained about no new game play elements when there is the obvious inclusion of the City area, well, the reason I havent mentioned it is because I honestly dont believe it to be that much of an extra feature, and yet thats all it feels like, an extra, something Nintendo tacked on to increase marketability. Now of course Im by no means saying it isnt well done, Im sure a lot of work was put into it,its simply that when you get there it feels like theres nothing to do by about the 4th trip and a week has past youve exhausted all entertainment from almost all the shops, with only Crazy Redds to keep the player coming back thereafter.

Now, one more thing before I wrap this up, the multiplayer, and yes, I know for some people this is one of the main attractions of the game, and to be honest, its worth it. It is extremely satisfying to have a group of your friends come and visit you though Wi-FI, you can help each other complete the museum, trade furniture, give a little bit of cash to a friend in need, anything! Well, I say anything, the one thing you cant do is GO TO THE CITY, yes thats right, a game entitled ` LETS Go To The City ` dosent ACTUALLY support multiplayer City visits! To me, this was just mind boggling, how could Nintendo not allow people to do this? Would It REALLY have been too much work too add this little feature? Regardless, the mutiplayer content that IS there is well implemented and works well, and at fast speeds ( ie Relatively lag-less ), if anyones concerned.

Final Thoughts: If your an animal crossing fan, chances are, youve already bought this by now, if not, and your looking for a good Wii game to tide you over, you could do alot worse than this...ALOT worse. If however youve played a previous animal crossing game, and your hoping to find an ensemble of new and exciting features, Im afraid you may find yourself dissapointed.

4 Stars as The gameplay, music, graphics, and characters are all solid, the only problem, they were in the last game too...too much so.

Im sorry, but I dont like this game at all. Ive been playing my ACWW every day since it came out. I gave up on this after a couple of days - it is sooo borrrinnng!! Theres hardly any interaction with the neighbours, the visitors are few and far between, and the village is too large. On DS you can see easily where you are and where you are going. On Wii you can tramp around for ages without seeing anyone or anything. And as for visiting the city. Theres nothing exciting there. Gracie has a shop which has hardly any clothes and super expensive furniture. Its much more fun on DS when you dont know whos going to visit each day, and you can meet the lost kitten and get gifts from Pascal. If you love the DS version, steer clear of this one.

if youve played either the gamecube or ds versions, youll get to grips with this straight away. theres a few changes from the Ds version i.e the city. but other than that, there virtually the same.
Other new feature are wiiconnect24, DLC (hopefully coming soon, the japanese have this already so just a matter of time)

Would of been nice if this had alot more new stuff in it, they could of done more in the city then they have done. A nice feature would of been the city being a meeting place for everyone without the need of the `Friend Code` thing. That way you could chat to ppl from all over the world, invite them back to your town, Trade Items in the meeting place...a whole new world of AC sadly not Featured.

The Wii Version Does Let you Transfer Your character from The Ds version but this is still limited, as you can only transfer your character and your Cataloge, Nothing in your pockets or money will transfer, i know this gives the player a fresh start, but it would of been nice to give you the option of weather to transfer everything or just your character.

Overall a good game as its predecessors. Worth playing if your a Fan Of the AC Games

I had never played an Animal Crossing game in the past and after much deliberation trying to decide whether to spend what little money I actually have on this game I decided to go for it. I have to say, I am not disappointed. It arrived promptly yesterday morning and Ive only played it for a few hours but Im already addicted.

Theres a wide range of things to do once youve been left to your own devices. I have yet to discover most of these things, but fishing, bug catching, snowman building, clothes designing and meeting the various characters in my town has certainly kept me busy. I decided to skip the Wii speak software and I dont think this has lessened my experience at all. It is still a lot of fun.

In many other reviews it has been said that this game is not too different to the previous games. However, I can say as a first time Animal Crossing gamer, its great fun. So if youve never owned the previous games it is a must.

I have had all versions of Animal Crossing and didnt think the last DS version could be beaten, but they have done it! I am addicted, and love my little world that I can go hide in. I love getting a bus to the city, and going to the theatre, changing my hair, and today was impressed to find a balloon seller who gave me a bunny balloon, which is now up in my house.

A lot of it is similar, the same charactors, but Redd is at the city and you have to get an invitation to go in to him. The museum is the same, as are the shops in your village. But everyone else can be find in the city. There is an auction house also where you can display items and bid. So there is so much more to do.

You can move your charactor from the DS (although you dont get any of the things in your pocket or money, just the charactor and the clothes it is wearing), which I think is brilliant, you turn the DS on with your game in it and click on the moving van, so you do literary move out!

Highly recommended, great fun for children and adults

I played Animal Crossing on the ds and loved and was obsessed with it for a couple of months. I was never really a die hard fan as I didnt know many other people with it and never worked out how to go online so missed out of a lot of the fun with it - sharing fruit and swapping items etc.
I was a bit worried when I got this for the wii as I had read some of the reviews saying it was no different to the ds and you would find it boring if you had already played it. When I started playing I agreed to a certain extent. The look and feel are exactly the same, the musics just the same etc. I got sucked in for a second time however and was nipping on during the day to dig up a couple of fossils etc.
I have no discovered online play and am completely addicted. There are all sorts of groups on facebook set up for people to swap friend codes and I am getting to know some really nice people at the same time.
I dont have Wii Speak (yet) but after chatting to some people on the game with it I am very tempted. You can type away to people while visiting their town or them visiting you but its a bit laborious with having to point at each letter, a bit like texting before predictive text. You can her other people who have wii speak though and its very clear and seems to work well. I am not sure if I would be a bit self conscious of everyone being able to hear me though and my husband doesnt want to have to watch what he says while Im on it lol. I might just get a wireless wii keyboard instead and stick to the typing. Fun hearing other people though.
The controls work brilliantly. I started off using the nunchuck as I do with other games like this but then tried just using the wiimote and is much easier and very natural.
I dont think people should be put off this just because they have played it on the ds. Its great seeing your world up there on the big screen and I think the ease of the online use is amazing. Look me up on facebook if you need a AC friend! :)

I cant really say dont get this if you have the ds version, I have both and play on both regularly, I agree with a lot of people that the lack of innovation is dissapointing and I think it is due to lazyness to be honest, and perhaps lack of money allocated to the product, I dont know. It is such a strange game as it appeals to people of all ages and gender, it depends more on the type of gamer you are rather than all that. For example if you are used to hacking off alien limbs in gears of war, there is a slight chance you will despise this cutsey thing where not much goes on. If youre the type of person who loves collection quest in games, this is the game for you as this is essestially what it is, though its a lot more fun than that description is! I get so excited looking in Nooks and Able sisters everyday. If you are strugging to find a quality game for your youngsters that everyone will enjoy, this is the one.

Just a plain good game.
Great graphics and hooking gameplay that keeps you playing for hours on end. Wii Speak makes it more fun, although if you are playing with people you dont know in real life, they wont use WiiSpeak since its uncomfortable.

Wii Speak is somewhat disappointing, due to the fact it makes voices high and crackly. However, its still a valuable accessory if you find using the keyboard uncomfortable. It also comes with a free code that allows you to download the Wii Speak Channel off the Wii Shop Channel - remember not to throw away the leaflet with the code on it!

This title is generally a very good title and well worth the price tag.
This is a worthy addition to your collection alongside Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Mario Kart Wii and Super Mario Galaxy.

On Christmas day when I opened my copy of Animal Crossing I instantly dismissed it at a gift that wouldnt get used. Sitting one evening shortly after with my glass of wine and my box of Thorntons I cracked it open to give it a go..... what a big mistake. I havent been able to put it down! My 5 year old daughter is thoroughly enjoying it too!

Ive never heard of it before so cannot give you a comparison with other versions of this game but this evening I have been chatting and gaming with a lovely lady from New York no less!!

I have even awoken early to get half hour in before I have to hand the wiimote over to my daughter!

Whats more its meant that my husband cant get on his PS3 neither!! Wooohoo!!

Go and buy it!

In Animal Crossing, life moves at a relaxed pace, but the world brims with endless possibilities. There's always something new to do! In the living, breathing world of Animal Crossing, days and seasons pass in real time, so there's always something to discover. Catch fireflies in the summer, go trick-or-treating on Halloween, or hunt for eggs on Bunny Day. If you're in the mood for something a little faster paced, take a trip into the all-new city and catch a show at the theater, check out the sales at Gracie's boutique, or change up your look at the salon! But if you don't show your face for too long, your neighbors will miss you! The perfect place to hang out with friends! The heart of Animal Crossing is building relationships with other players as well as the animals in your town. Live with up to three other people from your household and build the perfect town together! Get to know your neighbors! Befriend your animal neighbors by exchanging letters, gifts, and favors. Animals can also move from town to town, and when they do, they bring their memories of life in your friends' towns with them.
