Firing up Madworld into your wii is a bit like giving a gun to a three year old! inhearently wrong yet potentialy brilliant. Madworld seems like a major up yours to the wii and all it stands for. The whole, `Look even Granny is playing` thing wore out after a day and my wii has been sitting colleting dust waiting for another gimmic to be invented for it....Wii heart monitor anyone! Give me a break!
Madworld comes along like a Arnie in a church choir and although he cant hold a note he just squashes a few heads together for a laugh. While Madworld has some great gaming qualites that would be welcome on any home console it suffers teribly from repetativeness. An hour in and Madwold seems like quite possibly one of the funnest games ever invented. However after that hour is up you have seen and experienced pretty much everything the game has to offer. Visually its very impressive however the black and white around everywhere is very confusing and can make it hard to navigate around the levels. Jack has a chainsaw for a hand..... No matter what game it was if the main character has a chainsaw for a hand im sold! One thing that feels a little contrived....If this game were to appear on the PS3 or 360 Nobody would bat an eyelid and it would probibly recieve average reviews. But because its on the wii its raved about. A game for hardcore gamers? Possibly how hardcore can a wii owner be? The contols are a little.....poo...yeah poo the contols werent executed very well and this does let the game down a touch.
Apart from that Madworld is an average game...Nothing else, but it does do well on a console that is breaking 60+ hips all over the world. At last an insight..(along with No more Heroes) into what the wii could be capable of.
Reviewed by: Amazon Reviewer Rating: Date Reviewed: 16Jun2009 | | | If you like violent games and own a Wii, this is game is a must-have. It is a strange mix of 3rd person shooter and fighting games like Mortal Kombat (but with fatalaties all the way). The controls are easy to learn but hard to master, but it is fun all the time especially if you like the weird humor. The graphic style kept in black & white except for the red of the blood lets this game stand out of other games across all platforms, its like playing a comic book. The only minor problem I had is that its sometimes hard to keep your orientation, but it gets better while playing.
Reviewed by: Amazon Reviewer Rating: Date Reviewed: 24May2009 | | | Much was made of this game being a so called hardcore title. To some that means difficult to master to others violent and bloody. Madworld is the latter and has great fun being that. It therefore becomes a typical Wii game but with a fantastic art style and a load of blood. If the blood isnt a problem for you you will have lots of fun messing around with this. Some multiplayer games add to the experience though you will need two nunchuck controllers to play them. Nothing for you here if you want to play online but this is in keeping with most Wii titles.
Reviewed by: Amazon Reviewer Rating: Date Reviewed: 21May2009 | | | This game is really the most violent game on the wii and the cell shaded graphics are beautiful. The game play is simple yet fun and easy to pick up. But after a while the game play does get a bit simple and the enmies u face get more challangeing and the only thing that improves about your chracter is your skill at controling jack. Apart from this it is an very well made game.

A MUST HAVE!
Reviewed by: Amazon Reviewer Rating: Date Reviewed: 11May2009 | | | Madworld is an awesome game when you just wanna have some fun without having to think too much. Its gutsy, gory, over the top and cool to look at in its black and white comic book style. Sure, the game isnt very long, but its a great stress reliever and feels very satisfying when killing an enemy in a most brutal, sadistic way. Definatly the last thing youd expect from a Wii game!
Reviewed by: Amazon Reviewer Rating: Date Reviewed: 09May2009 | | | Overall judgment: Extreme fun, originally desinged for a bunch of hours of madness! A first step in a new dimension of fun! Graphics: Very original, no doubts about it. The mix of white, black and blood is sometimes a little bit tiring for your eyes though. Sound: The real time commentary is awsome and fun (and repetitive sometimes). Sounds effects and sound tracks are outstanding as well. Gameplay: Easy to learn, though it took me some time to get the best out of Jack Cayman. As you go ahead with your missions, it tends to get very repetitive. Longevity: The real weak point of the game, you can blast trough it in 5 hours... and the unlockables do not add much more to that purpose.
Reviewed by: Amazon Reviewer Rating: Date Reviewed: 07May2009 | | | Madworld looks the part, but the story is poor, and the game play repetitive. If your looking for blood and violence on the Wii, Id go for `House of the Dead: Overkill`.
Reviewed by: Amazon Reviewer Rating: Date Reviewed: 01May2009 | | | Well... best game on Wii so far.
Ultraviolent, extremely funny and in `hard` really hard.
Look at some youtube-videos for more impressions but it is one of the best games so far.
Reviewed by: Amazon Reviewer Rating: Date Reviewed: 25Apr2009 | | | Madworld is a fantastically fun, newspaper story generating, stylish and most of all fun piece of work. Ive tried to set out some quick pros and cons as I hate trawling through paragraphs to decide on a title...
Gameplay 4/5 Fantasically fun for the first hour, then you realise its much the same mash of moves in a different sequence. Still fun enough to hold you in until you finish it a few hours later. A good, simple bloodbath. not sure if Ill paly through again thohence the mark off.
Controls 4/5 Easy to work out & combos are therefore simple to pull off. Suffers from the whole resident evil camera, where the hell am I syndrome - easily corrected by centreing the camera, but doing it nearly all the time to see your enemy. Not much getting the instruction book out for this one.
Story & Cut scenes 3/5 Theyre all right, but when I played the game Xii i felt it was abit lazy on the cutscenes and link sections - same story here...all fairly static cartoon ideas (but done quite well). Story definately draws on Running man and commentrary adds to the game well - crude as you like, always over the top but a good idea all around story hints and some secrets/questions to be found out from the start - but its all fairly no brainer stuff, great for pick up and play people tho
Visuals & Sound 5/5 Wow, have Sin city sued sega yet? They dont own the rights to B/W comic effects I know, but the main characture Jack draws heavily on that mickey rourke dude from one of the stories... kinda hellboyish too. Anyway-great great graphics all told! Sounds are awesome tracks work well, but sounds and music clash sometimes leaving neither on top.
For less than £20 quid snap it up, but for any more it wont hold your attention for long enough. But while it does its kinda the best fun you can have on the Wii at the minute - attention developers THE WII NEEDS MORE GAMES LIKE THIS! Well done sega, a good effort. For the newpapers out there - this game does not create blood thirsty playground street fights, before you guys start see it as its meant and get a sense of humour!
Reviewed by: Amazon Reviewer Rating: Date Reviewed: 21Apr2009 | | | MadWorld was quite hyped as an ultra violent game with great controls and playability. Does it lives to the expectations? The answer for me is: `almost`.
I had fun playing the game. Definitely, the game is repetitive, but the presence of several very funny minigames all over the levels, together with the design of some middle-level bosses, keeps the gameplay fresh enough. The violence also gets repetitive after a while, but it is usually so over the top, that it is more for laughing than disgusting. The final level bosses are very good in design and ideas. They all die in crazy ways too. I really think that, overall, the game is better than the sum of its parts. For these reasons I think the game is enjoyable, even if it doesnt really shine in gameplay as the best of its genre. The game is also a bit short, so I suggest you not to expect too much. In this case youll be positively surprised. But if you expect a great game, you may be disappointed.
Reviewed by: Amazon Reviewer Rating: Date Reviewed: 20Apr2009 | | | If youre like me, when you hear about the Wii console you instantly think its a kids console and people who dont play real video games weeeeell this certianly proves otherwise.
Madworld is a game based on new york (i think) which gets over run by gangsters and turned into a game show... and youre a contestant.
The gameplay is very simple, you kill people for points. For example the more times you impale someone and stuff them in garbage cans etc the more points you make. Executing people is definitely fun and to gain lots of points you have to be very creative.
Graphically the game is different. Everything is quite cartoony and in black n white. So if you dont like gore you shouldnt have much of a problem since its quite unrealistic. Ofcourse this BnW style gives a cool Sin City groove to the game.
The controls are really simple and work very well unlike most games on the wii. Its all based on swinging the remotes... that simple.
Ofcourse this game is not for kids but im sure if you mute the game its ok to let your kiddies go wild with a chainsaw for a while. Its good fun for all ages even if it is rather OTT in blood, guts, violence and swearing.
This game is worth every penny! Its one of few games that actually make the Wii look and feel good.
(Also, check out Metroid Prime 3)
Reviewed by: Amazon Reviewer Rating: Date Reviewed: 10Apr2009 | | | If you are sick of the glut of minigames and disney titles available for the Wii, then here is the antidote - a fast-paced highly stylised beat-em-up-to-a-bloody-pulp that will have you grinning from start to finish.
The graphics are amazing - the black and white world is fantastically rendered (think Sin City), which creates a brilliant backdrop to the blood spouts youll be causing. Its amazingly detailed, very fluid and extremely pretty.
The violence... its so over the top that it doesnt even take itself too seriously, so dont worry that its some kind of sadistic snuff game - its not going to turn anyone into a kitten molester as the killing is done in a stylised way that its obviously not real life.
The game is pretty short (about 5 hours) - but then after completing it you get two extra weapons (double chainsaw!!) and unlock a harder difficulty level so you could easily double that to 10 hours. Considering that works out to less than £2 per hours entertainment, thats cheaper than going to the cinema...
The controls are spot on, with good use of motion controls where applicable, and even the camera can be re-centered so if it does end up looking the wrong way you can adjust it quickly.
Ive heard mention of black borders because the game runs at 576p, but most modern TVs have controls that can easily lose these. My Sony automatically smart-sized so I had no black borders at all.
So in summary, its a balls-to-the-wall slab of fun with plenty of adult humour and amazing graphics and controls.
Why havent you bought it yet?!
Reviewed by: Amazon Reviewer Rating: Date Reviewed: 06Apr2009 | | | i have only recieved madworld today, and ive already completed one level. this game is one of the most bloody, voilent and gory games available for the wii, it probably is the most violent game for any console. it has gone to the top of the list, for my personal favourite games, after one hour of play! madworld is at least 12 times more blood drenched than house of the dead: overkill, with less cringe-worthy swearing. all in all, a brilliant game for any lover of sin-city-style violence. the controls are easy to learn, the comments are funny, and its extremely addictive, once you get into it. three words describe this game, entirely. BEST GAME EVER

Reviewed by: Amazon Reviewer Rating: Date Reviewed: 23Mar2009 | | | I had high hopes for this game, but did approach it with trepidation. While the trailers were stylish, and gloriously un-PC, I was worried that the monochrome graphics would become confusing in the heat of play. Fortunately, my fear was unfounded, and what we have is simply one of the best looking titles, not only on the Wii, but on any console out there at the moment. My next worry was the controls- reading the instruction book it looked to be a tall order to master, but as soon as I actually played, the wii/nunchuk set up proved intuitive, and the use of motion sensor is easily the most responsive and sensible I have found in any game thus far.
So, it looks great, handles like a dream, but what about the game itself?
This is as much fun as you can have with a video game. Period. The dynamics are like mixing the roaming beat em ups of the 80s, with the gore of Mortal Kombat fatalities, and the actual fighting dynamics of Def Jam: Fight for NY. That is a seriously good cocktail, trust me. Words cannot convey the fun of discovering the combos and environmental kills available. Yes its OTT, but its presented like a living, moving graphic novel, and the glee with which Jack can eviscerate, torture, and skewer his oponents is infinite. Did I mention he has a chainsaw for a hand? Oh yes he does :-) The end of section boss battles, along with the mini-game challenges are awesome, and will offer lots of single player replay value, attempting to do things as stylishly (and profitably) as possible. 2 Player via split screen is a hoot as well, with much cursing and jostling to be created by knobbling your oponent in the heat of a fight so as to inch you points total above theirs.
This really is the mutts nuts, just buy it already.
