The secret weaps. of WWII is the latest (and last) instalment of the Battle field 1942 series. To put a long story short this is an ace game, the tanks and other machinery look lush, the fighting is easy to use and the A.I is quite polished. O.K if you have a slow comp. the graphics will not be ace, but for anyone with an advanced graphics card, the graphics will seriously make you feel in the game. Seriously, if you have not already got this game buy it!!!! It can scare the living daylights out of other wartime strategy games (wsg) like Call of duty and Medel of honour, which cant compare.
Reviewed by: Amazon Reviewer Rating: Date Reviewed: 23Mar2004 | | | I have to admit to gradually becoming smitten with BF1942. It was by no means love at first sight, I still hate the single player game but the online experience really is second to none. Coming to SWoWW2 however, I have to say that its quite disappointing. The new weapons are a bit gimicky and dont really change the experience much at all. Yes I suppose the aircraft are quicker (so what), the tanks a little bit harder to kill (big deal), the rocket backpack has about 5 minutes novelty value but even then is quickly forgotten and players rarely use it. The only real pluses are the new AA rocket launcher and the C47 spawn point, but they are available only in a few maps. It is true that there are new maps themselves to consider which is always welcome, but EA have released maps for free via the internet before (Aberdeen, Coral Sea, Battle of Britain) and there are now free modding tools available so anyone else can do the same. Of the maps themselves, at least 2 are so wildly biased towards one side (the Axis) anyway that they are pretty unplayable to the average online competitor, making them quite dull. In all, there is nothing new within the maps. To EAs credit there is so much variety available already as far as maps are concerned these arent enough in themselves to warrant buying the latest update. All in all, I have played the latest maps from this version online, and will probably continue to do so occasionally, but Ill always revert back to my old favourites which came with the original and the excellent Road to Rome. Three stars for effort and because I love BF1942 and would probably want it regardless to complete the collection and to keep up with the latest update version, but sorry EA, theres just not enough here for me Im afraid.

The new vehicles are good fun and the new maps are on a grand scale, which is probably to accomodate the rather fun jets that can cover great distances in no time at all. The rocket Sherman is superb fun, although some of the bigger tanks are just too slow. These new vehicles and weapons mean you have to change your tactics somewhat, which means you might struggle a bit when you first log on (well i did, maybe im just rubbish!) I havent tried the fabled rocket pack yet, but Ive been nailed a few times by someone with it - looks great fun!!! Does it justify the price, especially with the like of DC and GC available for free?? Well I think its excellent fun, but wont appeal to everyone!!
