| PALM | TUNGSTEN TX | This is a great gadget, but what makes it even more my pride and joy is the fact I got it for a fiver! I Discovered your-free-gifts.(remove space)com a few months ago. All I did was sign up then completed an offer. I did the coral offer and wagered #5. And then I won back my money anyway as well!. There are many other offers I could have completed such as the 14 day free trial with the DVD company love film. After completing my offer I recieved my gift within a week :) Have a look at the site there are many more stuff they are offering for free like consoles, ipods, iphones. | Hewlett Packard | HW6915 | Mobile phone, Wi-fi PDA and a GPS all in one. Just fantastic. The form factor is good - a little wider than I was used to but after a week I didnt notice. Voice quality is excellent.
Being able to hit the road, knowing I have access to email and can update documents and spreadsheets without having to cart along a laptop - perfect.
Battery life is great, although Wi-fi does tend to sap it somewhat.
Perhaps its best to give you a "day in the life" of how well this little genius does everything:
A while ago I had to go to a meeting in London, at an office Id never been to before. First I called a taxi to the train station. While in the taxi, I checked on train departure times (guess I should have done that before I left, but anyway). Unfortunately I couldnt actually buy my ticket online as the website wanted more (AJAX?) functionality than the built-in browser could handle. Once on the train I called the office to find out which was the nearest tube station. Then I worked a little on a spreadsheet while listening to some MP3s, then read an e-book for the last half hour. Once Id reached the destination underground station, I fired up TomTom in "walking" mode, and it guided me to the office without any fuss at all.
What more could you ask for?
Of course its not *quite* perfect. Youll need to buy TomTom maps for the whole of the UK, unless you never plan on leaving one city (one free city download is allowed). And the silly little flip-over plastic cover will break within a week. Invest in a good quality belt-pouch, there are plenty of them available - try here on Amazon. | | Amazon Reviewer | 20/05/2008 01:01:01 |

| COMPAQ | IPAQ H3970 | Sure, there are smaller, faster, and lighter PDAs on the market now. Good for them. This one is the perfect combination of heft, size and ease-of-use. The screen is one the best I have seen, and it is nice n big. Any smaller than this, and the on-screen keyboard starts getting difficult to use. Plenty of oomph drives the programs along. Chunky enough to get a decent grip on when in use, compact (and flat) enough to slip into a jacket pocket with ease. The format is a popular Compaq/HP iPaq one, so there is a huge array of accessories available, too. A winner all around. | | Amazon Reviewer | 10/09/2007 01:01:01 |

| HEWLETT PACKARD | HX2790 | OK, Im not one to write a review normally - but having used this for 6 months now, all I can say is that it exceeds my expectations.
Seeing no review for this device - I felt the need to redress the balance.
Im a seasoned PDA user, having gone through the Psion Organiser II, Psion 3a, Palm Pilot, Palm III, Palm Vx, Compaq iPAQ, HP4700x, and now this.
This unit is good to hold, with excellent touch screen, good handwriting recognition, and all the applications you could want.
The only concession I have is to load Pocket Informant - that uprates the Calendar application - this was standard on the 4700x, so I missed it when changing over. I really liked the 4700x, but the volatile memory was a let down, and that fabulous hi-res screen just ate battery capacity, I tried the Windows Mobile 5 upgrade but that was poor - hence the move to this device.
Non-volatile memory, good battery life, a screen thats fine for what the device does, and a fast processor work well together in this device. The bluetooth and Wi-fi connections make this a really useful addition if you need powerful connectivity without having to lug even a small laptop about.
I use a standard Nokia 6310i, an HP thumb keyboard, a bluetooth fold up keyboard and a matchbox GPS unit - I can do my e-mail, SMS and write reports - in fact most of what I can do on my laptop. I now rarely take the laptop unless Im away for more than 2 nights. This unit also uses strong encryption under fingerprint protection. For those that think this is a gimmick - it just works, not difficult to use but for most individuals outside the security agencies - impossible to crack. Great if you store bank details or sensitive data (in my case customer and sales data.
Personally, I like to just use a phone as a phone. I have used an SE M600i and a Nokia N95 for a few months to try and though the new smartphone devices are good - I feel they are quite necessarily compromised.
So, if you want a stand alone PDA - this is the one. | | Amazon Reviewer | 01/07/2007 01:01:01 |

| HEWLETT PACKARD | HP IPAQ RZ1710 | Had mine about a year now - upgraded from a Sony Clie. Excellent value, the software installed without a hitch, and the sync works every time! only gripe is the sync cradle, which isnt suitable for using with a laptop - it would be great for a static desktop sync. bought myself a new usb cable rather than lug the cradle about. Pocket Word and Excel handle documents great, and the diary & address book are fine. Battery life is amazing. the media player is fine - i dont need my ipod any more! | | Amazon Reviewer | 06/04/2006 01:01:01 |

| HEWLETT PACKARD | HP IPAQ RZ1710 | Ive recently bought the RZ3715, having replaced my old linux Zaurus. The Zaurus was amazing, but the IPAQ 3715 is really fantastic. This is truly a multimedia pda. The wireless capability is great and it took me less that 5 minutes to get it working on my office LAN. The battery life is great. Ive use the wireless functionality regularly, but the battery lasted the whole week !!!. The TFT screen is very clear and makes using the PDA a pleasure. The only downside is the camera. The 1.2 megapixel camera is great in natural light, but not too good for photos taken indoor. Overall a great PDA :) | | Amazon Reviewer | 14/12/2005 01:01:01 |

| HEWLETT PACKARD | HP iPaq HX4700 | The new HP iPAQ 4700 media companion is the most advanced PDA on todays market. Far outclassing all other handheld computers with its powerful 624MHz processor and high Ram value [192MB] this is definately the best PDA for the power user or for those that dont want to have to upgrade for at least a year or so. The HP iPAQ 4700 comes with both a SDIO Secure Digital Slot and a Compact Flash [CF] slot allowing memory expansion via a MicroDrive/CF/SD/MMC memory Card for the storing of important documents or allowing you to turn your iPAQ PDA into a MP3 Player. Both SD and CF expansion allows you to expand your functionality with PDA Accessories such as cameras, scanners and Modems. This is one of the few PDAs to incorporate both types of expansion slot giving you the user complete flexibility on how you wish to modify and utilise your pocket pc. A broad range of features, Bluetooth, WiFi, expansion capabilities and multimedia make the HP iPAQ 4700 handheld essential for you to communicate, access and manage information when you want, how you want. Bluetooth, wifi and Infrared allow you to simply access the internet or email whenever you please regardless of where you are. In addition these forms of communication allow you to synchronise information with other handheld devices, laptops, mobile phones and desktop computers easily and accurately. The range of software is easy to use reflecting the most popular basics you use on your home or office pc everyday. With the HP iPAQ 4700 comes Mobile Office 2003 providing cut down versions of Word, Excel and Outlook allowing you to remain productive and access your documents at all times. Outlook comes complete with everything needed to stay ahead of a busy schedule either work related or personal: reminders, appointments, alarms, notes, tasks, calendar. For those who wish to have a time out from work there is a range of games and a whole host of free applications are available on many web sites. For those who wish to watch small movies or listen to MP3s the HP iPAQ 4700 handheld comes with Microsoft Media Player 7. Overall the HP iPAQ 4700 is a perfect example of a high range portable handheld computer giving you complete connectivity with its main benefits being its increased Memory, Processor and its SD + CF expansion. | | Amazon Reviewer | 22/04/2005 01:01:01 |

| Sony | PEGTJ35 | This PDA was my first one, and frankly: ITS GREAT! Unless youre a business man rolling in billions of dollars (in which case I would recommend the Clié PEG-UX50) than this is just what you need. If youre interested in transfering MP3s on your PDA, youll have to buy a memory stick. What I find is VERY useful is that you dont need a memory stick reader on your PC! Just plug it in your USB port and voila, Windows XP sees it as an external device! I have around 20 MP3s on a 128 MB stick, but really, how much would you really put? Id say 64-128 MB sticks are enough. The little gadget has a good quality loudspeaker (not very loud, but sufficient). Its equiped with one of the latest PALM OS version, OS 5.0 .Enough with the good points! Here are (unfortunately) the bad points: The stick if "folded" like some fishing rods and is too small. You also need an adapter to plug it into your PC. NO ADAPTER=NO LINK. Well, thats all. Hope this information will help you choosing which PDA to take! | | Amazon Reviewer | 15/05/2004 01:01:01 |

| Sony | PEGTJ35 | This was the first time I had ventured into the world of PDAs, and decided to go for a Sony because I already owned a Sony VAIO with memory stick slots, so thought it would be good for compatibility. Yes, you do need to buy memory sticks, but the fact is that you can compress the files so much that you can fit huge amounts of information onto one. This model comes with an amazing MP3 player, a good selection of bundled software and the Picsel viewer is just incredible. There is no loss of quality at all if you choose to view your documents with this. Its easy to get to grips with too. By the end of the day I got mine, I had mastered the basics and felt I knew my around it well, due to the excellent design and layout. Speaking of which, this is also very attractive, and considering its relatively low price, you get an awful lot for your money. If you need a PDA but dont see the need in spending a fortune on one, get this one! | | Amazon Reviewer | 27/03/2004 01:01:01 |

| Sony | PEG UX50 | I had to upgrade my Clie to a UX-50 as a result of an accident to my existing NR-70V and all other Clies had been withdrawn and I concerned about reviews that Id read about this model (battery life etc) Well , after three weeks of getting used to the UX-50 I have to say that I think this Clie is fantastic and well worth having True battery life is shorter than my first Palm Pilot ( a month), but then I could not take photographs, record video, transfer data between the Clie and my mobile Z600, play music, games like Monopoly and Agression , and do the usual things like Diary and Addresses. The user interface is excellent - better than NR70-V one which I had replaced with Facer - but I wont do that for the UX-50 The battery indicator is on the main screen , there is a pop-up clock , memory card indicator and sound control. The camera is a step up from the NR-70V with the ability to zoom on the image in the viwer There is a file viewer included with the Clie but I use Documents to Go and that works well on this model of Clie The Voice Recorder is fine - good for reminders The USB port is a bit fiddly when syncing up to the desktop but the flat power cradle is much better than the desk stand ones in previous Clies And the best bit is that my existing Presenter to Go works with the UX-50 - and for work presentations the Clie is as good as my laptop - and about a tenth of the weight All in all this is an excellent piece of kit - and I use it for both work and private use If you need this level of functionality I can recommend this Clie - but do as I have and get the in car charger | | Amazon Reviewer | 09/02/2004 01:01:01 |

| COMPAQ | IPAQ H3970 | Id wanted a PDA for sometime but never had either the money to afford one or the courage to make the change from conventional paper diary. However that changed last month when I came into a small amount of money and decided to replace my mobile phone and take the plunge with a PDA. I hadnt wanted to spend quite this much on a PDA at first and was looking at cheaper models, but my shiney new Sony Ericsson T610 mobile has blue tooth and none of the cheaper PDAs had this function. Well I must say its the best thing i have ever bourght! I promise you will never look at a paper diary again. It takes a couple of weeks to get used to, but then your flying! There is not much this amazing piece of kit will not do. I could sing its praises for hours but Ill just tell you the bits you want to hear. Build quality - superb, it oozes class and quality. Just from its feel in your hand you know you have a serious piece of kit. Functionality - unlimited! Im still finding new ways to use it! Software - thousands of programmes available. Pick and choose those that interest you. Reliability - early days but no problems so far. Desirability - massive! My friends and work colleagus wont leave it alone! One good tip though - install Pocket informant 4 as your information managment programme. Its much better than the programme that comes with the machine and will improve your enjoyment and ease of use 10 fold. If your still unsure about a PDA like I was the best piece of advice I can give is GO FOR IT! Dont make the mistake of going for one of the cheap models though. They dont have the same level of functionality and you will regrett it later. To sum up, I dont have anything bad to say about the H3970 but not enough room to write the good points. This is without doubt the Concorde of PDAs! | | Amazon Reviewer | 28/10/2003 01:01:01 |

| SHARP | ZQP20H | Bought this one for my mom. She`s speachless. Also, the calory and the carbohidrats it can display for all main food are exactly what she needed. That database is included on the CD. The box included the device, the cd and the cable to connect to PC and also a nice pocket thingie in which you can keep your organizer safe. You can literally make databases on your computer, using the one on the cd as a layout for what you wanna make. Play with it ;) I intend on doing a price range of items that will be periodically updated through computer - device. | | Enoeth | 13/03/2006 10:01:51 |

| SONY | PEG-SL10 | I bought a Palm M105 as a starter PDA and loved it. After a few months I realised I'd like to upgrade not because the M105 is a bad PDA but more due to it's lack of hi res screen and 8mb memory limit.
I didn't need or want colour so after scouting about I decided on the SL10. Having owned one for a few months now I can say this is an excellent PDA. Screen readability is better than the M105 and the backlight is vastly improved over the M105. The 320 x 320 screen and 33mhz processor seem to have improved my graffiti speeds considerably as I don't need to be so neat and can now scribble my notes at almost the speed of pen and paper. I've started using the Sony in meetings rather than an A4 pad which is something I could never do with the M105. The option to add a 128mb memory stick is very tempting and I don't think it will be long before I give in and buy one. The only thing I miss about M105 is the very long battery life but a couple of pairs of rechargable batteries has fixed that.
To conclude the SL10 is a great little PDA and if you don't need colour you won't go far wrong with the Sony. | | Ian | 07/03/2003 15:31:52 |

| SHARP | ZQ290H | The EDIT key is reached by scrolling through the screens and that is done by hitting the `2nd` key. The EDIT button will be then found on the RH side of one of the screens.
This PIM is very comprehensive for the low price. However, I can use very simple software to enter data into my simpler, old EL-6890 organiser making entering addresses and phone numbers much easier. | Lexibook | 1MB Touchmn | Easy to use PDA. Compact and lightweight. Does not have a backlight which can be a drawback.
Biggest problem is that it comes with a Com Port instead of a USB cable. It does not synchronise with my PC very well - only now and again making uploading and downloading a hit or a miss. Comes up with the error message "Program Cannot Open Com Port" which is a shame as otherwise for £59.95 it would be a good buy.
It has a separate keyboard which is really useful when entering a lot of data such as addresses. Would be really happy with it if I could get it to "speak" to my PC which is a Pentium 4 running Windows XP. | | Fiona | 14/02/2003 11:17:58 |

| SHARP | ZQ590A | Purchased from Argos and had to be returned as `Aa` character unavailable. Poor screen contrast making it difficult to read and backlight function didn`t really help. The graphics quality was not up to standard and overall rather disappointing as I have always been a fan of Sharp products. | | Anon | 10/07/2006 10:22:31 |

| OREGON SCIENTIFIC | PDA293 | Handy because of small size, and excellent value for money... so far.
However, the synchronization software is outdated.
Don"t buy this thing if you want to use your PC contacts and schedule database. | | no synchronization possible | 20/08/2004 17:12:01 |

| Lexibook | TM601 | I have a 601. The software is out of date. The instruction book is written in Chinglish. The cradle will seize a COM port of its choice - modems beware! The help website refused to let me log on; you can’t read the data; the keyboard is too fiddly; the backlight is useless; the thing is non-intuitive; build quality questionable. The portable keyboard is fine for elves and fairies but anything bigger than a goblin will find themselves pressing 2 keys at a time or the wrong one.
The machine does no more than a half-decent mobile phone will do. So, if you want something pointless, difficult to use and a bit iffy in the build quality, look no further, the Lexibook TM601 is for you. | | Stressed | 28/11/2003 14:59:03 |
