PANASONICTXP42C10YI just bought this tv. the desion was between this and a samsung also a 42 plasma tv. but I am very satisfied with the quality of the pic. sound and speed of the channel change. also I got it at a very nice price around 980 dollars. good deal for a quality tv I think. 5 out of 5Anon12/09/2009 14:46:28

PanasonicTH42PZ800BThis is a decision that took ages to make as there were several contenders both LCD and Plasma. I have always been an LCD fan until now. This Panasonic set is stunning. It has replaced a 36" CRT set the last ever made by Panasonic and is widely regarded by those in the know as the best ever CRT set It was however too bulky and very heavy at around 15 stones. I was worried that the standard definition picture of the plasma would look poor compared with the old set. The really good news is that it is excellent using both the internal digital tuner or sky box. HD is to die for. Moreover this set comes with a much enhanced sound system and is really rich sounding compared to all other flat screen tvs. Though I use a samsung sound bar for films I can quite happily listen to the TV without this. I bought this for £1200 inc 5 year guarantee which is in my opinion a steal. I had to travel to Crampton & Moore in Sheffield to get this guarantee but it was worth the journey. I recommend this set without reservation. 5 out of 5Amazon Reviewer04/01/2009 01:01:01

samsungPS50A457P1DXXUThe guy who gave this 1 star must have something wrong with his system or set up. Picture fantastic. I dont know why people think LG is upmarket from Samsung products. LG was formerly Goldstar the cheapest brand you could get in the old days. Samsung has been around a long time and has always had good quality products.5 out of 5Amazon Reviewer31/12/2008 01:01:01

LG42PG3000This tv not only looks good its perfect in every way. Sound and picture quality is excellent! Picture was not so clear at first but we have found out that plasma tvs need so many hours to run in (around 200 hours) now are picture quality is excellent and I would recommend this tv to any one it is such good value for money you cant go wrong.5 out of 5Amazon Reviewer31/12/2008 01:01:01

PanasonicTH42PZ80Having visited an number of showrooms to check out the latest TVs both LCD and plasma I was left very concerned about what standard definition would look like in my home. The SD pictures on display, even in places like John Lewis, were very poor. If, after making a considerable investment in a new TV, the picture on programmes such as Coronation Street and the like looked no better than on our current CRT TV, I would never had heard the end of it from my wife - no matter how fantastic the HD and Blu-ray pictures looked. In the end it was a choice between the Sony 40W4500 and the Panasonic plasma. Having read many reviews I went for the PZ80B, backlight bleed and clouding issues reported by a number of Sony owners helped me come to that decision. I have connected the Panasonic to a standard sky+ box using the RGB scart and the results are very good on SD. The pictures using a Sony BDP-S350 Blu-ray player are outstanding. The sound on the PZ80B is OK for normal listening but for films you really need to use a surround sound system. I use a Sony-DA2400ES which is excellent. 5 out of 5Amazon Reviewer22/12/2008 01:01:01

PanasonicTH42PZ80After weeks of research and reading owners reviews I decided to purchase this tv and I am glad I did. The SD and HD quality is superb, as the pro reviews mention this tv beats the major competitors in the same price range hands down. Some people complain about the sound well all I have to say is if you`re ready to splash out #750 for a TV then it would be silly not to complete the home cinema experience with a Panasonic Home Cinema kit. They start as low as #148 for DVD with HD upscaling and 1000W output. The quality for the money is excellent. 5 out of 5Ben, NP28/11/2008 15:34:13

SamsungPS50A558S1FThis is our first LCD TV, so Im no expert. The picture quality from freeview and DVD is fantastic. Setup was virtually automatic, and so far the default picture settings have been fine. Ive read some other reviews which state sound is the one weaker area with this set, but it seems OK to me, not amazing but fine. The one thing I dont like is the EPG doesnt have a picture insert. Very pleased with this purchase. 5 out of 5Amazon Reviewer17/10/2008 01:01:01

PANASONICTH42PX70My brother bought this plasma. I helped set it up - best picture I`ve ever seen. Dvd playback on componant is glorious and via rgb scart you cant tell any differance. add a panasonic DVD recorder via HDMI link with HD upscaling and your in for a treat. Analoge tv good - but via built in digital tv signal you wont find better Remember the old Crt pictures anything with crossed lines would go crazy and large crowds at shows would flicker as the camera pans around? - Well those days are at an end with this plazma. Saving my pennies to buy this - cant wait. 5 out of 5carlos12/08/2007 18:55:10

PANASONICTH42PX70This is my first plasma after 3 LCDs. I switched to plasma because I watch mainly standard definition (SD) TV, and was not particularly satisfied with the LCD handling of SD. The PX70 produces a massive leap forward in picture quality, with deeper blacks and far more natural colors, which are also exceptionally balanced. The setting is very simple and there is not much to play around it. The TV is basic with standard specs and connectivity. What sets it apart is the quality of the picture. If you are a gamer you may want to consider LCDs, but for watching SD TV look no further, the PX70 is a gem, and if you can get it for around £900 it is an absolute steal. Build quality is exceptional too, not cheap feeling at all, and for design is among the best TVs around. You can`t go wrong with this TV. 5 out of 5Giovanni07/05/2007 08:53:49

PanasonicTH37PX8I have recently bought the 37 inch model panasonic plasma and find it to be one the best purchases that I have made. The size is big enough whilst not looking huge in my lounge. The picture quality is awesome, especially when playing dvd`s through the hdmi socket connected to a dennon dvd player ( another brilliant piece of kit). If you are currently in the market for a new TV, give this a the once over, you won`t be dissapointed. 5 out of 5Stephen18/07/2008 19:39:34

PanasonicTH42PZ70BAI have owned my TH-42 pz70ba for six months. Picture quality is sharp and colours well defined. Sometimes reds can look slightly orangy, but pump a high definition signal in to this tv and image quality is amazing. I have noticed some banding now and again, this could be down to hdmi leads or material source?. Sound quality from the tv is good. Would have been nice to have had more watts and Dolby Digital surround sound, rather than just nicam and spacial, but these are just minor gripes. However I plan to purchase a theatre surround system to beef up the audio, and to create the cinema experience. The Pz70 has now been superceeded by the 80 and 85 sets etc. I can throroughly recommend the PZ70, and there may be deals out there now that the tv has been discontinued. 5 out of 5Sheep_pie14/06/2008 08:13:27

PanasonicTH42PX60BI would buy one again. My friends some times go err the aspect ratio is off and its squashed or stretched the picture, or say some of the picture is missing. Its because they are jealous because they have a 14` tube tv. Obviously something filmed with a camera set to a diferent aspect ratio and then viewed on a diferent setting on the tv will stretch it!!!! Just like HD is only good if its filmed with HD cameras!!! My only gripe with this tv is if I set the aspect ratio to a lower setting and that setting does not fill the whole screen the viewing picture is surrounded by a grey boarder. Panasonic you should have left it black!!!! I have never seen it since I first clicked thru the buttons on the remote first day. Whats the point in buying a 42` plasma tv if your not going to watch the full screen??? The picture quality is great when you watch the footy with the built in noise filters. Great tv. Buy it!!! 5 out of 5Anon23/05/2008 13:16:47

OrionTV500HDPurchased 14th July 2007: Good value 50` plasma television for below £1000.00 Picture qaulity is just as good as many of the other brands I have seen (I have been looking at these for 12+ months). PC input was a bonus & our laptop connects really easiliy (cable not provided) and again, the picture qaulity is excellent. Surfing from the armchair is great when there is nothing worth watching on the box! Fastext is also good. Programming the sky remote was the most difficult task as the one listed for this manufacturer in the Sky book was not correct. Eventually I searched through the website Digital Spy and found about 25 different codes for Orion. After keying in each one, we were sucessful on the eighth code we tried. Sound is excellent with NICAM A2 stereo & BBE sound Enhancer as standard. 5 out of 5Harwoody23/07/2007 18:25:55

PioneerPDP506 XDEHaving owned this model for over a year, I have to say the pictures are still stunning, especially when used with sky hd. the digital freeview pictures are good enough, and with a decent dvd player hooked up via HDMI again pictures are fantastic (especially if your player is equipped with a scaler). Remember that speakers are optional, so you must also purchase them, or connect to a dedicated home cinema system. the screen can output up to 720p or 1080i but NOT 1080p (this would be downscaled), however at the moment there are no broadcasts in 1080p anyway, and FULL HD (1080p) is only really availiable via blue ray, HD DVD or downloads. it is also worth remembering that a tv with full 1080p picture, but poor electronics, is not going to produce a better picture than a 720p tv with superior electronics, (which the pioneer has) I highly recommend this plasma, however to get the best out of it, the picture MUST be correctly set up (as with any tv/panel) there are dvd discs availiable for this, the difference between a correct set up, or not, is night and day. hope this is helpfull 5 out of 5S. hannah18/06/2007 14:26:42

PanasonicTH42PX60BThe Panasonic is a great Plasma TV. The brightness of the light colours and depth of the blacks and dark colours give the picture a good life like quality. It is easy to set up and change the picture settings. PioneerPDP427XDOnly had this tv on my wall for a week or so - nearly brought a phillips ambilight tv which was thankfully out of stock. Read a review in `What Plasma` about the new Pioneer TV and was persuaded to change my mind. PioneerPDP4270XDThis is a fantastic TV. 3 Scart connections are easily enough for a DVD and VCR leaving one spare, HDMI for SKY Digital. The picture is fantastic, and the image can be set to one of four modes, cinema, full, wide and zoom. The built in freeview tuner is a bonus as is the built in top-up tv card (although not strictly necessary if you have SKY) The SVCD + RCA inputs are great for plugging component sources, I`ve had my laptop on it watching MPEG films. One niggle is that it doesn`t have the picture in picture feature. Overall, 5/5 from me. 5 out of 5Scott a.k.a. the King of Dives !!20/01/2007 11:25:16

PANASONICTH42PW6I own this plasma for over a year now and never regret buying it. I even recommended it to some of my friends. I am into home theater for over 13 years and had gone through several upgrades already. Having this plasma completes my set-up fantastically. What I like best is its very user friendly features. You can tweak the settings to suit your preferences and never get tired of either watching dvd`s and playing videogames. I bought an XBox 360 last december and wow! Videogames never looked so good. HITACHI42PD9700For less than £2000 its one of the best plasma tv. I have done alot of research before buying this tv. The sound and image quality is super. Plus the additional features such as two hdmi connection, usb conection and the rotating pedal stand. I have used aerial connection to watch freeview and the image is as good as a dvd. its a full hd tv so it can handle anything. If your budget is around £2000 got for it. I did consider LCD, but the image quality is only good when HD broadcast is used, plus when watching an action film like The fast and the furios, the lcd tv can`t handle signal the image tends to have a ghostly shadow. At the moment the top LCD screen is the Sony`s X range but compared to the Hitachi, sony was 8/10 and hitachi 10/10, if in doubt go to your local electrical store and compare both plasma and lcd screen yourself but ensure both the tv are using the same input. 5 out of 5Dipesh17/08/2006 20:59:45

PioneerPDP505XDEMy wife and I resisted buying large screen plasma TVs until this one because the images on other sets have not been good enough.

Since ourchasing the Pioneer PDP505 XDE we have been delighted. It is the best 50` display Iwe`ve seen and simply stunning. The more we watch it the better we like it and that`s a true test. The contrast, colours and brightness are all excellent.

This set manages to make normal PAL transmissions nearly HD quality but on HD transmissions it is exceptional.

You can set the picture format to automatically change to suit the transmission received.

The only downside is on PC input where the high resolution does not show up so well.

PanasonicTH42PX60BThis is one of the best plasma TV`s that I have seen in the market today within £2000 price range. The picture quality is the best out of all, the sound is fantastic and the set up and the menu options are very good. Panasonic really proves that they are the best in Plasma by making this TV. The connectivity is great with two HDMI sockets. The digital TV is great even with a normal aerial wire. The DVD picture is second to none and Panasonic have really done it very well. It has 10000:1 very high contrast ratio showing deep blacks very well. I would recommend this TV to anyone who is a real technolgy freak. LG42PX5DFantastic. I got mine 13th Jan from John Lewis. Price matched with Curries, plus 5 years free extended guarantee. Best of all they delivered within two weeks of order (promissed within 4 weeks.) Picture quality is far better than that of my fathers new Samsung. It has a 9 in 2 Multi Card reader in the side for SD,Microdrive etc for viewing video mp3`s and photo`s etc. More than enough connections for my DVD Player, DVD Recorder, Sky, PS2, X Box etc with some spare. Initially had problems with picture output from my Samsung HD850 player through HDMI, until I turned down the picture quality in the player and allowed the screen to do the upscaling. You could say I`m a Very Happy Chappy. Looks the Dogs Whatsits as well! Just have to work out how to get Hexadecimal infrared codes converted for my pronto remote. 5 out of 5ONanON10/02/2006 08:19:55

GOODMANSGTV42PBought this product in dec , Its in quite a large room the picture is excellent, sound is fantastic (tip:: the speaker wire is too long if you are mounting the speakers on the TV, we cut the wire which just makes things less messy at the back, We also use it with Xbox 360 for High Def which is fantastic....Recommend taking insurance or cover as these are super expensive for reapir after 12 month warranty runs out.......Argos expensive for cover .when you buy goodmans offer a 3 year warranty which is cheaper. All in alll a nice TV with great features.........more scarts would have been nice but 2 suffice . 5 out of 5Darren26/01/2006 09:38:40

Hitachi42PD6600I bought this unit just after Xmass and its excellent. The picture is very good compared to the images displayed in the shop. Playing Consoles through it is a treat on its own. There are plenty of ins and outs, including a HDMI for the new SKY HD coming soon. The price was excellent and the warranty is second to none compared to other manufactures. The unit displays very good colours and sharpness. Its easily equal to more expensive units. The signal quality is the key. The picture took ages to sort with variable contrasts and brightness but the reward is worth while. This Plasma is also pretty heavy (44kgs) so mounting this to a wall or above your bed (if your keen) will require a £250 bracket. so beware! 5 out of 5Rossco12/01/2006 10:32:13

Hitachi42PD6600I bought this TV 6 weeks back and have been really satisfied with its performance. The standard of display is excellent. I did look at some ropey ones before plumping for this - it was also considerably cheaper than the Panasonics & Sony`s, with few concessions on quality (believe me - I checked all the reviews I could find!!). The functionality is also very good, with plenty connection options available. The remote takes a bit of figuring and the sound a bit flat - but hooked up to a sound system its fantastic. Delivery and set-up by Currys was also excellent and the warranty reasonable compared to some of the deals around on plasmas.

GOODMANSGTV42P4Absolutely brilliant, Easy to understand instuction book with self tuning it was all so very easy. Not used a stand as i`ve wall mounted mine for ease of use (plus having four kids, no finger marks), Now mates around all the time to watch the footy. Was running my old tv through the stereo for surround sound, not now stereo is up for sale as its not needed no more with the sound quality on this tv as good as my Aiwa stereo was . Cant rate this tv enough as its just superb. Must buy for any real tv lover. 10/10. 5 out of 5Paul White. South04/10/2005 10:05:16
