Ribbit King gives us possibly the most addictive cutesy golf related game to date (narrowly beating PS1s Everybodys Golf by a smidge) by giving us one the easiest yet fun games Ive played in ages. Frolf as its called, replaces the club and ball with a hammer and frog! You are then given a good 30 or so holes which are spread over 5 worlds, each full of its own unique hazzards and wildlife, to play against your friends or the computer in a set of 4 holes. The other main difference is that your frog interacts with the distractions on the course and those can earn you big points. Land in the water and youll get points swimming to the end of it. Land next to a fly and you frog will leap to eat it! At first the way you score points can seem dreadfully random and at times infuriating as all the good points can go to the player who tees off first but the more you play, the more you notice a bit of hidden depth to it. Sometimes however you can just be plain (un)lucky and the game does suffer some horrendous slow down which can effect the odd shot when your using the normally easy to use shot bar. But apart from that this is a top notch game for kids and adults alike! Theres some funny cutscenes too...
Reviewed by: Amazon Reviewer Rating: Date Reviewed: 01May2005 | | | Let me start by saying buy this game! Its addictive and highly amusing in a nonsense kind of way. I wont explain everything about it apart from its loosely based on golf. Im sure if you buy it youll enjoy discovering the amazing ways to score points. Children of all ages can play and you dont need to be an expert gamer to master the controls.
Reviewed by: Amazon Reviewer Rating: Date Reviewed: 11Sep2004 | | | this has to be the most insanely adictive game ive ever played. the basic game premise is your one of 5 bizzare japenese-esque charecters who is playing a game of `frog golf` which involves hitting a frog with a choice of `clubs` such as a wooden mallet, a bone and oters! you must get the frog into the hole with a floating daimond above it in fewer goes than your opponent to win that hole! along the way extra points can be scroed from a variety of unique ways such as being picked up by a giant snake and being thrown as far as possible, being stomped on by an elephant or picking up `point bubbles`!!! i warned you it was a strange game! you would probably think it was just for kids but you couldnt be further from the truth! this game will have you hooked from the minute you pick it up and when one game is over youll be starting another faster than you can say `croak`! the game will have you laughing well into the morning and then when you crawl out of your pit youll ring up your friends to join you!
