In this adaptation of the third book in J.K. Rowling's best-selling series, Harry Potter (Danielle Radcliffe) and his best friends Hermoine (Emma Watson) and Ron (Rupert Grint), must face the dangerous convict Sirius Black (Gary Oldman), who has ties with their enemy Lord Voldemort. The spectacular fantasy-adventure action of the earlier movies (SORCERER'S STONE and CHAMBER OF SECRETS) is once again presented here, as Alfonso Cuaron lends his unique directorial style to recreating Rowling's magical story on celluloid. A scarier, darker story than the first two, this one concerns the mystery behind why Sirius Black is tracking Harry Potter. Slowly Harry and his friends unravel the clues, and learn secrets about Harry's parents that had all along been hidden from him. Meanwhile, because the deranged Sirius poses a threat to all students at Hogwarts, the school enlists a group of daunting black ghosts called Dementors to stand guard. After directing the first two movies in the Harry Potter franchise, Chris Columbus opted to serve as producer for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and passed the baton to Y Tu Mamá También director Alfonso Cuarón. Though immensely popular is an understatement when it comes to Harry Potter, Azkaban is somewhat of a departure from its predecessors, and particularly beloved among fans for its surprise ending. Prisoner of Azkaban also marks the introduction of Sirius Black (Gary Oldman), who has escaped from the title prison after 12 years of incarceration. Believed to have been the right-hand-man of the dark wizard Voldemort, whom Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) mysteriously rendered powerless during his infancy, some of those closest to Harry suspect Black has returned to exact revenge on the boy who defeated his master. Upon his return to school, however, Harry is relatively unconcerned with Black. Run by Albus Dumbledore (Michael Gambon) -- who is widely regarded as the most powerful wizard of the age -- Hogwarts is renowned for its safety. Harry's nonchalance eventually turns to blind rage after accidentally learning the first of Black's many secrets during a field trip to a neighboring village. Of course, a loose serial killer is only one of the problems plaguing the bespectacled wizard's third year back at school -- the soul-sucking guards of Azkaban prison have been employed at Hogwarts to protect the students, but their mere presence sends Harry into crippling fainting spells. With the help of his friends Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson), and Defense Against the Dark Arts professor Remus Lupin (David Thewlis), Harry struggles to thwart the Dementors, find Sirius Black, and uncover the mysteries of the night that left him orphaned. ~ Tracie Cooper, Rovi DeepDiscount.com

This game took me a while to complete. the mini games were fun and i enjoyed finding the things that you were supposed to find, (cards, statues etc. etc.)the graphics worked well and the voices were well cast. the tasks get harder throughout the game so dont get annoyed when the firsts ones are really easy... it can Be enjoyed by all ages aswell.

I like this game but it sometimes dose get a bit boring when you get stuck write in the middle of the game.

But its not all bad I do like the way you can be not only harry like you do in the two before this one you get to be ron and hermiany and its even bettor when you have an eye toy because in minigames you get to play some cool games with eye toy . But there is one down side about the minigames because you can not play any games without the eye toy.

But then story mode is still good if you are good at these sort of games.

If I was you I would buy this game if you have an eye toy or if you are good at advenchure games if your not then do not bye it

First of all, dont listen to the review by L.ransom below. Its not true at all.

This is the best harry potter game Ive played ever (ON ANY CONSOLE!!) It is better than the pc version, and the goblet of fire game, which was incredibly boring.

Good things:
-AMAZING GRAPHICS (Just fly buckbeak and youll see),
-Great controls and wand control (unlike the pc version, you can press R1 and lock on to a target),
-Unlike the PC version, there is a large puzzle element, because you have to choose the character and spell that is right for the situation!
-The characters speak a lot, even when roaming the grounds; I think this adds a bit of realism
- You can explore hogwarts and the grounds completely freely. The environments are so realistic and vast that its possible to get lost if u wander too far.
-The missons are really original and fun. In some, you are told exactly what to do, and in some more challenging ones, you have to explore a lot to find out.
-Lots and lots of minigames and eyetoy games, which are fun and cannot be found on the PC version of this game.
-I have also noticed that the PC version has extremely lame lip synching, whereas this ps2 game has great lip synching and good voice acting in general.

Bad things:
It might be helpful to note that APPARENTLY this game has some bugs. However, I played on it for hours and gameplay was smooth as hell!

Summary: If you are into RPG Harry Potter games with good narrative and puzzles, buy this game!!! Its the best one so far! (To anyone who is anticipating OOTP :-P)

overall i was quite dissapointed with this game. i found with the first two games you could explore the grounds and the rest of the castle.with prisoner of askaban there isnt a lot to do. i mean you can do the missions but there is nothing to do.
All the corridors is locked, all the grounds are locked. First off in this game you cant even play quiditch. i did also not like the controls where you had to select personal spells. the idea of playing as ron hermoine and harry was good though.

overall, i think the game is good because the missions are fun. but a little bit let down on exploring hogwarts.

Well what a game, this was bought for me a few weeks ago and i have really enjoyed playing this game, i must admit this is alot better than the goblet of fire as you can explore hogwarts freely, this is very similar to the chambers of secrets and philosophers stone, i would say this is better then the film and more like the book, as you really get to see hogwarts and its just amazing how you can explore and find the hidden passages and its very dark, i am now playing goblet of fire and i rate that 2 stars as EA have changed it completly which im not happy with as why no exploring!!!!!

what can you say, it is just like the other games - different maps, beterre graphics but it targeted at the kids and they get the parents to pay, so from a profit point of view the game works but from a game point of view it is very boring.
