An eventful foray into the underbelly of Military development during war-time which delivers some interesting weapons.

Multi-level and challenging ( unless you use the cheats which negates the point ). Thoroughly enjoyable and frustrating at the same time.

I have always been surprised by the speed with which certain gamers heap criticism on games. Its a cut-throat business, but sometimes when I read reviews, I get the impression that 9 out of 10 games must be absolute rubbish. Obviously this is not the case......

Moving onto the game itself.
I thought the graphics for a game of this nature were quite good. The planes are depicted in detail and the colourations and designs are impressive. I will admit that ground troops and vehicles sometimes lack detail, but this is not really that important when playing the game.
There are not that many flying games on the PS3, so you could argue that there is not much to compare it to. But having said that, the missions are varied and reasonably well thought out. There are bombing missions, air-to-air missions, torpedoing destroyer missions, flying in very small corridors/passages etc etc. I cant fault it for variety.
And with this variety comes fun. Ive loved playing the game. From selecting the plane I want for the mission, to changing its colours and designs, to the actualy flying itself..... I was hooked.
I recomend this to those that want to have fun behind the controls of a Spitfire of Messerschmit. You wont regret it. And if youre not sure, you could always rent it for the night.
A huge plus, is that this game is co-op, so if you want to play split screen with a mate, you can. Thats even more fun than it sounds....

Simply THE worst game ever singularly developed for a console. I have had more fun with Golden Axe on the Sega Mater System II than I ever will with this self indulgent, hashed together sham of a game. Quite frankly I have experienced better graphics on a Sketchly and this is meant to be a next gen game. What a joke.

If only I had had the oppurtunity to take part in the marketing / development meeting for this game; i mean imagine the discussions being banded around the table:

` So tell us Gary, what have you got`

` Weeell, basically Im banking on the entirety of our market being complete imbeciles who dont really like the prospect of a well engineered, researched and original game. Lets not forget that these guys are expecting the very best in next gen graphics, game play and creativity...`

` so what are we going to give them Gary?`

` oh its quite simple Bob, were going to attempt to con them like their idiots by garnering to the flight sim market and throwing in a bit gun and smoke action while sourcing all of our development into the inhouse chimp and beetle team who basically couldnt care less for you, me, the customer or the fate of the planet but they definitely care about screwing people over and making money...`

` excellent, how are they going to it GAry..`

` Badly, Bob, very badly indeed. And you know why? Because we quite simply dont care, never will care and who cares?!?! Narf Narf, I made a funny`

Fire them all Bob, from the chimps to the egomaniac that `created` this monster, fire every single last one of them and redirect them into fields they actually might have a chance in, such as garbage disposal or male prostitutuion. Sweet.

This game is seriously poor. Graphics are a disgrace to the ps3, with ground and buildings textures border lining between ps1 and ps2 standards. Most of the trees are 2d and explosions are sorrowfully bad. Gameplay is horrendous - there are about 5/6 buttons used in the game, and the majority of them are awkward. Locking on to enemies is absolutely painful to watch as your camera angle is changed in a way so that you cant see in front of you, only behind, to your flank or wherever your enemy is. Planes are a bore to fly and there are no moments in the game where you feel enthralled by an intense dogfight. The online multilayer is dull and depressing to take part in due to the lack of participants and overall poorly designed lobby. No disrespect to the other reviewer, but I dont think resistance set the bar too high, i just think that BA2 is plain terrible. This game fails to bring any of the intensive and enjoyable online gameplay elements from other games on the market. Whoever was on the development team for this game should be ashamed that they were involved in designing such an impotent game that only puts the player through anguish as they have to endure such immense stress of even witnessing a small percentage of the inadequate and inferior experience that this game offers.
1/5. A disgrace, and an infuriatingly pitiful excuse for a next gen game!
