SONY D-NE1 Silver Portable Audio - review, compare prices, buy online

Three simple sentences:

1. Dont buy
2. Its Rubbish
3. Plasticy flimnsy thing. Throw it in the skip.

Why dont you guys wake up to reality? I mean, if this really is a Sony product, why is it a counterfeit?

This discman plays anything you throw at it. Mp3s, ATRAC copied cds etc. Dont be put off by people criticising its output either. Ive tried this with different headphones over the years (ears) and Ive found varying results which leads me to believe that its not the discman but the headphones themselves!
ATRAC means you can burn up to around 30 cds on a single cd and listen on your discman. The discman sticks the whole song into its mwemory before playing it so it doesnt spin the cd continuously. This is great mainly because it saves your battery life by a lot. There is hardly any loss of quality when you burn to ATRAC. It is by far a better compression than MP3. It isnt well supported through so youre stuck when you want to play it on your friends JVC CD player. The sofware you get from Sony to burn ATRAC is a bit shoddy though. You have to compile the cd all in one session because you cant save the sessions. This also means that if you want to make a multiple of the same cds, you have to go through the whole process again!!! This is poor! You can ignore ATRAC though and burn an MP3 cd if you wanted to and this will play on D-NE1.
Beautiful design but this means that it can get spoiled easily. Mine have scratches on the lid which is easy to do...

I still dont know about other cds, but the Chris Clark `Empty the bones of you` (Warp Records) doesnt burn in this walkman. First i assumed that it was a cd problem, but then i put it to play in my car, in my hi-fi, and even in my brothers D-EJ815 walkman and the cd worked! So i can only conclude that this walkman has a serious problem...
