RoadstarLCD5014SILThe general qualiy picture on the whole is clear, but it depends where you are. Obviously if you are below ground the reception is poor but that is obvious. A great thing is the AV in. This means that you can plug your DVD player or games console to it and see the picture (although rather small.) The fact that it needs 10x AA batteries is rather annoying, but is much better than being tied down because you need to plug it into a wall socket. Overall a good product but dont pay the full Amazon price for it as you will not get what you pay for.4 out of 5Amazon Reviewer02/07/2006 01:01:01

PHILIPS17PT1666I wanted a tv to sit on a desk next to my PC. The 14" was too small and the 20" too big. This 17" is just the job. It is an attractive silver colour and has a pleasing appearance. I rather like the flat top, as my dvd player sits nicely upon it. It was very easy to tune. I didnt get it for the radio, so Ive no comments about that. The picture is excellent and the sound acceptable, although slightly tinny and unrefined. No complaints though at round about a hundred quid. I would say, go for it.5 out of 5Amazon Reviewer08/11/2005 01:01:01

PHILIPS14PT2666I bought this tv because I needed new TV which was compatible with region 2 dvds, and the price was much lower than other similar quality brand 14inch tvs. The FM radio is very good, it picks up a wide range of stations with good quality. This TV is very light to carry, and the picture does not do it justice, it looks much better in real life. At just £75 this TV is a bargain, I would recommend it to anyone!5 out of 5Amazon Reviewer05/08/2005 01:01:01

GRUNDIGP39 3010Best value I know. Very sharp picture with its pure flat screen,2 scart sockets, front AV inputs + headphone. For a 15" tube the unit is compact & smart looking. Also has fastext.I bought this tv for particular use with my xbox and with using the advanced scart lead the picture/sound quality is superb. The video game picture stays central on screen unlike my sony 14" tv which I have now passed on to my son.

Overall an excellent performer which I highly recommend

GRUNDIGP39 3010I bought this TV and am impressed with the picture quality and the fact that this small (larger than normal) portable has 2 yes TWO scart sockets!

The set is quite small compared to some 14" tv's and its 15" pure flat tube has cut out the glare I used to get on my old portable. The remote is a bit basic looking but for the price you can't go wrong.

It looks nicer than the other 15" flat screens on sale... go and buy one!

Roadstar5014I just bought this small LCD for the world cup. I think the picture quality is very good for the price!

Saddly, batteries are not included, and you may have to spend a lot of money on rechargeable batteries. I did not get to test the battery life yet, but since it requires 10 (that`s right, 10) AA batteries (NI-MH recommended), it should last a few hours (this is really a shot in the dark, as I`ve said I do not have enough money right now to buy 10 Ni-MH batteries).

It includes a cigar lighter adaptator, so it`s a good buy.

I would definitally recommend this to anyone who is on the go and wants to watch the world cup!

PHILIPS14PT2666I bought the tv because my 14 year old Sony has big problems with scart sockets and av inputs also the tuner no longer works.. So I was looking for a replacement with equally as good with longevity and performance thrown in.. Ive had it a day and these are my thoughts thus far.. the picture quality is good probably as good as the old Sony.. The picture controls are very extensive and allow for fine adjustment. The screen itself is quite rounded but when viewing for a short distance away you wouldnt notice this.. The sound quality is average not really suprising given the limitation of the size and placement of the speakers. I wasnt buying the TV for the sound only the picture and as I couldnt get hold of the non nicam version I bought this model instead which, according to Philips, has the same tube and picture controls anyway. So in summary the picture is as good if not better than my old Sony the sound is ok but not really required to be fantastic. It could benefit from a second Scart socket . The radio is quite a nice touch. The remote control is a little cluttered though. All in all comparing the quality to say the Sony in price this is a good buy..4 out of 5Amazon Reviewer22/02/2005 01:01:01

PHILIPS14PT2666This TV is very good for the price. It has very good on screen menus, excellent picture quality and decent sound. On a lot of small "portable" TVs the casing is usually so flimsy it resonates at certain volumes. This one does not, giving a clear, loud sound. The bass is a bit weak but it is small set after all! The screen is very curved which is a little disappointing but similar sized CRT flat screens are significantly more expensive so its not such a problem. It only has 1 scart socket. It also has a aerial coaxial socket and FM aerial socket. There are several RCA sockets on the front for connecting video cameras. Overall its a really good TV. Is it worth an extra £30 over an unbranded one? Yes it is. The build quality, the image and sound are all excellent. Its just a pity the screen isnt a bit flatter.4 out of 5Amazon Reviewer03/02/2005 01:01:01

PHILIPS14PT1556Tis a super little machine, with lots of features. I had a pint of beer upset on mine but it still worked fine after, allthough i wound not reconmend it. PHILIPS17PT1666I purchased this model as I wanted a portable TV for the bedroom, but a 14 inch model was too small. I was concerned that this model was receiving poor or average reviews, so I popped along to my local electrical store to have a look for myself. Satisfied that the machine would do the job, I took one home. I was not dissapointed: Set Up: On turning the set on, I was impressed that the auto-set up feature was quick, getting all available channels in a couple of minutes. If you want to re-tune any channels etc, the easy to use menu system lets you do this quickly and easily. The channels are automatically named, but you can also change these if you wish. Each time the TV is turned on, it sets its internal clock from teletext. Picture Quality: Clear and sharp, with several presets available (eg soft/natural/multimedia) to change brightness, colour etc with one button press. Again, settings can be changed using the menu system. Sound: Ok, its only a mono set, but for a second set, it does the job nicely. As with the picture, there are several presets available to change tone etc, with one button press. Other stuff: There is the usual sleep timer, going up to 240 minutes. As a bonus, there is also an on/off timer, which allows you to set the tv to turn on at a certain time and channel, and turn off again at a certain time. This option can be set to happen once, or repeatedly. There is also a parental controls and child lock. In all, this set gives me exactly what I wanted. The screen size is much better than a 14-inch tv, and the picutre quality is excellent. You may have noticed that I have not touched on the radio facility - this is because I use a tv for television, and a radio/hi-fi for radio. If you want a se that has a radio facility, then please be aware of the concerns hightlighted in other reviews, but if you want a decent portable tv, this one is worth considering.4 out of 5Amazon Reviewer08/11/2003 01:01:01

FERGUSONM51131R SilverNice design, screen fairly curved though (this ain't no Sony FST!!). good compatibility with games consoles, front A/V and stereo headphone out useful for surround sound & camcorders. Crisp, undistorted picture, especially in 60Hz mode (better than my £400 Panasonic!).

Sound is limp - a single 4 Watt speaker only goes so far.....best hook it up to something meatier via the headphone-out socket. Quality of construction a little lacking - plastic feel, remote control is poor. RF, scart & A/V sockets are firmly connected to the chassis, though. OSD and other features are good and simple to access/alter.

To summarize, good value for money, especially as the equivalent Philips or Sony would be twice the price. Difficult to find 19/20/21 inch TV's these days - nice mid size as 14" are too small and 24" too big. good connectability and flexibility. A good "beater" TV at a great price.

BUSH14971TV (Silver)I have used my Bush internet.tv for 1yr. It is excellent value for money (cost me £98 at Argos, it's now even cheaper, where obtaianable).

It must be remembered, it is NOT a computer, so has some limitations, but if E.mails and the internet are the only interests it is about 90% efficient. It will not open attachments or java and a few other scripts, but it's still good fun and hey, you can pay this sort of cash just for a 14 inch T.V.

PHILIPS17PT1666I bought a used Philips 17PT1666 recently and have also found discolouration on a bright white screen. It improves if the contrast control is turned down. I think that the effect is caused by shadow mask distortion at high beam currents. The defect is tolerable and the set is well worth the ten pounds that I paid for it. 3 out of 5Chris19/02/2008 17:54:45

GOODMANSK1405TExcellent tv. Really good for the price. Only problem is that you have to have the remote to tune it in. Hence after a move, I can`t find the remote, so tv no good till I get a replacement one. But TV itself well worth buying. 3 out of 5eliyza106/12/2006 07:20:27

SAMSUNGCZ21A083NBetter than expected sound quality. Picture 'sags' at bottom slightly when there are 'black bars' top and bottom. Awkward to tune as done in MHz rather than channels. GOODMANSC530I have owned this particular TV for about 18 months. If your thinking of purchasing then don't bother. When the unit goes wrong - and it will, very expensive to repair. PHILIPS17PT1666I've now had 4 different 17PT1666's - two from Comet & two from John Lewis. Each has the same fault - discolouration occuring - parts of the screen going yellow/blue after it has displayed lots of white. Effect can be seen by going to ITV text p250 and leaving it for 5 minutes.

Not sure what to do now as I really want this model as it's one of the few 17" sets around & everything else about it is good...

PaceDTVA-UKStraightforward, TV connection OK. Connecting to video more complex. Extra RF connection leads and Rf 'splitter' not provided.

Splitting the signal can mean that you may have problems getting analog or digital, or both. Then the retailer will tell you that the signal is not strong enough, that you require another aerial :-( I'm impressed with the functionality (if a bit fiddly at first!) but still have to mess about with connections at rear if I want to video any analog channel (unable to video digital). I did ask the retailer if/when PACE would be producing their £25 unit. They couldn't say.

I went back to the retailer and complained that all reasonable means of connection was impossible at present. They gave me a hard time saying it worked OK with TV. Eventually they relented and supplied 'free' RF lead and splitter. If you stand your ground you may be lucky too.
