| Mattel | R/C Cyber Shocker | I have recently bought a cyber shocker and I have tested it on all terains and I think it is the best remote controled toy I have ever had. It impressed me with its speed as it goes very fast. The battery holds alot of power and runs for along time. My favourite feature on it is the transforming feature on it, it switches from explore mode to attak mode to defence mode but my favourite is explore mode. Cyber chocker has two attacks, tail slam and spin attack. I recormend it to children and adults.

| Unbranded | PowerZ-200 | This is one of those boy's toys that is only fully appreciated if you are a grown-up, but of course it's easier to justify if you've got a child (the smaller the better, then they can't fight you for it).
However, whatever age you are, this is a great introduction to the hobby. When I were a lad, model aeroplanes were quite hard work - even if you bought a kit, the bits of balsa were never properly cut out and you had to play your Mum and Dad off against each other to be allowed a knife sharp enough to finish the job. Then you had to cover the frame in tissue paper and asphyxiate the household with the acetone-based dope used to seal the surfaces. Even the glue was pretty heady stuff, but it never occurred to anyone I knew to make that the hobby...
Anyway, none of that is required here, the whole model being virtually complete, with motor and radio bits already installed. The only thing left to buy is a big pack of AA cells to power the transmitter (the bit of the radio you hold), but the plane's batteries and a charger are included. You have to set up the wing, which takes about 5 minutes, and there are few stickers to brighten it all up, but you've got two hours to do this, as the battery will need charging up. This is not a great hardship, as the main alternative forms of motive power are elastic (wimpy) and internal combustion (expensive, temperamental and noisy).
The remaining thing you will need is a lot of space. Do not underestimate this - this might just be a toy aeroplane, but it can cover a lot of ground, and it takes some practice to be able to land it back at your feet. You also need plenty of height (i.e. no power cables or blocks of flats!) and as little wind as possible - if there's a light breeze at ground level, it's probably blowing quite hard fifty feet up and it would be a shame to lose your plane on its first outing.
Flying the thing is great fun, and my initial fear that the batteries would run out after five minutes proved groundless. In fact, they last nearly 20 minutes, by which time you will probably be exhausted, too. Although light (8oz. all up - and I don't care if I'm prosecuted for not being metric) the plane is quite durable, although the points where the wing tips hinge up is a weak point. I put some tape over the leading edge, and this seems to have helped preserve it.
£80-90 might sound a lot of money for a model aeroplane, but believe me, it's chicken-feed compared to the prices of the serious kit (e.g. £300+ for a helicopter, not including the engine or radio). In any case, it would be difficult to buy the bits for less, and you're spared the difficulty of knowing what to get. The downside is that the radio parts are difficult to transfer to other models, should you wish to, but if you get the bug, you will probably want something more sophisticated next time, anyway.
Late news - having failed to heed my own advice and chosen a small playing field to fly in, my plane is currently parked 50 feet up a tree! Still in one piece, though (as far as I can tell). Nice to be proved right, I suppose... | | James Gillott | 13/12/2002 22:17:25 |

| Unbranded | Hitari Turbo King | This sleek looking buggy is fast and nippy and for the price its worth getting.
It features two gears high and low and turbo boost, easy to handle and takes 6 hours+ to charge. I recommend all night its like a rocket in the morning, but thats not all. Its air filled tyers make it easy for the turbo king to manage rough off road ground.
I purchased this item last year and i stil enjoy it today. the only cons are that you carn't send this baby off any high drops but you can go over ramps but and i mean but dont try to flip it over tos it or attemped any deathdifying drops with it or you will find your self with a screw driver in your hand. if your looking to get this get it, it will last you for ages but look afte rit.

| Unbranded | Sky Scorcher | The Scorcher I have is about 3 years old now. Makes a great beginner RC plane to fly on calm wind days. Flight time is about 2 minutes, plan on spending more time charging the battery then flying it. Stickers on the plane start pealing off from age causing drag to the airflow, so rip then off when you can. Overall it makes good fun entertainment for the whole family. Flight range is about 300 ft. Turns, climbs and descents are controlled by power output from both engines which again only last about 2 minutes. | | FitzpatrickGF | 12/08/2007 18:55:04 |

| Unbranded | Blade Runner 2 Helicopter | An excellent product, providing very addicitive fun. But it is NOT as tough as a brick, and you WILL crash it while learning to fly. After much fun, and many crashes, simple repairs are posssible with ordinary `invisible` tape. This is described in the maual. Replacement rotors are available for a nominal fee. As your skill increases, flying becomes steadily more fun, and crashes steadily more rare. I can`t leave this thing alone. It is too much fun to waste on a child! | | Dave | 08/01/2007 15:29:18 |

| AIR HOGS | Radio Control Airplane Illusion | Looked promising, but ours doesn`t steer! Flies quite fast, and is easy to lose, (especially when you can`t control the direction!). Assuming ours unusual, then it should be OK. It seems quite tough, which is not a feature of many R/C planes, so it`s probably a useful introduction. The up/down controls are not the `right` way round, however - back is down and forward is up. | | Francis | 30/12/2005 15:54:27 |

| National Geographic | Remote Control Land Sailor | Despite being a professional engineer, this product was a little overwhelming to assemble. Probably to avoid instructions in multiple languages there were only icons on how to assemble. Notably missing from the icons was; 1) how to mount the receiver antenna on the land sailer, 2) where the on-off switch was, 3) any instructions on what to do or not do with the servors, 4) suggestions on tensioning the guy wires, 5) how much wind is needed to sail and 6) who to write to if a problem.
One wheel turns remarkably free, but the other side is stiff and quickly grinds to a halt.
Once it is assemble it is impressive to see and makes us a little envious as the ice sailing option will never be used in Southern California. | | KB | 19/10/2005 10:56:47 |

| FEVA | Gyroforce Radio Controlled | first, the main drive shaft gear slipped off and along the shaft,as soon as it was first started.
secondly ,we need more than my household space to use this car.
Thirdly , my son only likes to see it gitter about becuase of his original first failed impression.
Otherwise it has a great future. | | 3D spankedchrome | 10/01/2006 11:10:11 |

| Nikko | Radio Control P-51D Mustang Air Racer | I`ve the same troubles. The Mustang isn`t able to go up. It crashes always. I never succeed to get it in the air. The motor seems to be to heavy in weight and not powerfull enough to get the thing up. | | decostervandenbulcke@hotmail.com | 14/02/2008 10:40:01 |

| Tyco | Rollcage Radio Control Car | My son got this for his birthday. No batteries or charger. After looking in every toy store in our area I finally looked at Mattel`s web site and found the battery and charger. The cost was @$30 for both. The kicker for me was when we got the battery (yesterday) and I couldn`t get it in the car. My wife and I tried for about 30 minutes but could not get it in. I called support and they said because the car came out in 2004 and it only has a 90 day warranty I was out of luck. They did say I could send the battery and charger back for a credit. Now I have to explain to my son we have to throw away a toy he never got to play with. This is the last Tyco product I will ever buy (we also have the shellshocker) and I will return any he gets as a gift. | | Unhappy in Ma. | 04/09/2007 17:45:52 |

| Tyco | Rollcage Radio Control Car | The batteries are not included with this car!!!! let me tell you how impossible it has been to find the right batteries for this car! So far tyco has been unhelpful sent me to two different stores and Toysrus and Kb toys both do not carry them. Looks like the batteries are going to cost a small fortune, now I see why this car had only cost $29.99, which is still not cheap for a toy. So far been very unhappy with this car!! | | trublu | 20/06/2007 08:15:44 |
