I brought the goodmans gdb3 a couple of years ago at argos.
it was great for 2 months but them it started to go wrong and now it just
switches its self off so the red light goes on and the screen goes blue
and it takes me ages to take the wires out and then in and then it works
but half an hour later it does it again.
its rubbish!!!!

The remote seems to do what it wants rather than what I want. Having been
irritated by pressing one button and getting another button`s result, I`m
now fed up with it. Now the remote has packed up, despit new batteries
being installed. Do I buy another remote, or put the whole damn thing in
the bin!

Bought this after reading the reviews and one said can be used on portable with just a loop aerial - and it did.
For the money it works ! what more do you want !!

we got this box 2 years ago it was fine to start with but after about 4 months strang things started happening. on all the ITV and C4 channels the picture scrambled every few seconds. then now and next info started disapearing. the problem has mainly cleared up now though but when the boiler fires up the picture still scrambles and the now and next info is still not there.
Dont buy

Bought this box a number of months ago but did not use it as it was in
another room. When we lost the remote for the other box we decided to
change over. The Goodmans GDB3 did not work, when we tried to set up the
channels it kept saying the antenna was not connected even though it had
not been changed from the old box was removed. Very disappointed with
this box as we still have been unable to use it.

I bought a Goodmans GDB3 Freeview box to replace my old Pace On Digital
box, which had started locking up and switching itself off. The picture on
my old Pace box was superior to that received straight from the arial on
channels 1-4 , However the picture through the GDB3 was inferior to to
both. Also, for some reason it kept switching the television off the wide
screen setting, so every time I used it I had to reset about half the
channels back. I sent it straight back and am still using my old Pace box
which gives an brilliant picture, when it`s working.

I am happy to recommend this freeview box to anyone seeking good value for their money. I bought it for the TV in my sons bedroom - a portable tv with its own simple `wire circle` aerial. The box is set up with this aerial and gives perfect reception - better sometimes than we receive downstairs via the main house aerial. My son has never had a problem with the box in any way, and given that he is the usual teenage `channel hopper` I dont think there can be a higher recommendation. Im certainly planning to buy another of these boxes as a Christmas present for my daughter for her bedsit!

Took two Goodmans GDB3 back to Argos with the same fault. The aux scart
socket is not compateble with all VCR`s and will not send a signal.
Settled on a Wharfedale DV832B, from the same factory as the Goodmans but
without the problems.

Argos lists this in catalogue as only now & next epg, with old ver 3.11
software it was. our old 3.11 box had over air upgrade to 4.1 now has `7`
day epg, encypted channel scan or not option to save having to delete them
after re-scans, fav` system too, current purchases from argos ships with
ver 4.1 software as of october 2005. Only thing lacking is ability to
re-arrange fav-list channel order. I miss that from other dig
receivers

set up done easy.ran for 4hrs, with very good picturen no prob`s N ext
time I switch on I just get scrmbled rubbish, no controle at all, what`s
gone wrong, I`v tryed every thing I can, PLEASE
HELP

Ever since a software update was pushed out automtically this box has
failed to be of any use. My advice. Spend your money on anything other
than this.

Easy to set up, clear menus works well and gives clean picture even on
edge of freview area with standard tv aerial on roof. Scart lead too for
price. Good buy.

The name Goodmans doesn`t reflect excellence to me. This freeview box
could easily have SONY written on the front. Easy to set up/use excellent
quality, clear menus

The setting up instructions are awful. Even the diagrams are unclear. Why
can`t we have, say, a blue scart plug that goes into a blue scart socket
and that`s that?
The pc`s are doing it so the rest of the electronic apparatus
manufacturers should follow. My rating is for setting up, i don`t know how
it will rate in operation.
