| Philips | HS8060 | Fantastic product - managed to get it for £60 through Amazon. Makes shaving hassle free. I get no shaving rash which used to be a real problem for me. I tend to use King of Shaves gel rather than just the Nivea system as it gives me a better shave. The ability to wash under the tap is great. | | Amazon Reviewer | 20/01/2009 01:01:01 |

| Philips | RQ1095 | I have always used an electric shaver and have been a Braun customer for the last 20 years or so. Recently I was growing frustrated with the quality of my shaves, especially on the neck area.
After much reading I purchased this model (for an excellent price) and I have been very impressed. It does not feel as close as my Braun when you are shaving, but you can feel afterwards that the results are at least as good, if not better. The biggest plus for me is the fact that my neck seems to be able to handle a really good shave without any redness. | | Amazon Reviewer | 11/01/2009 01:01:01 |

| Philips | HS8020 | Ive tried a few electric shavers over the last 15 years and all have them have caused irritation, resulting in me going back to bladed razors. I decided to buy this over xmas as it was on sale. Love it! They say it takes 3-4 weeks for your skin to become used to the use of a shaver but my skin has been fine since they day I started using it. If anything my skin has improved over using my old razor!
Some people mention the running costs of this razor but I cant see it being any more expensive than owning a mach 3 turbo or something? The package came with a half size Nivea refill that has lasted me over 3 weeks of daily use, and to begin with I was applying too much. A 3 pack of full size refills on amazon is only 14.95 and will probably last me 3 months easily. Compare that to a few packs of those expensive blades and some gel and its about the same. But at the same time youre applying moisturiser as well, my skin feels great :) | | Amazon Reviewer | 08/01/2009 01:01:01 |

| Philips | HS8020 | Faced with the need to purchase new shaver heads for my aging Phillishave dry shaver, I looked at the price to obtain replacement heads and opted to buy this excellent product. Its not a Mach 3 and nor does it use the same principles for shaving, well I guess you know that already.
It is a very good electric razor and I must admit to being particularly pleased with my purchase at less than £60. OK, is it as good in some respects as a traditional wet razor and traditional soap. It certainly does not give quite as close a shave, however, it it a bit like comparing an automated car wash with a hand car wash: both are good in different ways, but combining both methods can be extremely valuable. How is it better than a traditional wet shave for me? Easy for one who rises before 6:00 a.m to commute to work: SPEED. Wash my face, leave my face wet and using the conditioner shave in half the time - I very much need to soften my bristles before I can let even a brand new blade next to my skin. By 6:00 p.m. I can feel that my bristles have grown, but I must admit, I can when I use a Mach 3 too.
In regards to running costs, well the moisturizer does not last three months, but neither do a pack of Mach 3 blades and foam/gel either, so in terms of running costs, I would say that they even out.
I am neither an Aficionado of either wet or dry methods of shaving: for me a shave is a shave and whether wet or dry, as someone who can remember the old shaving methods of blades and mains operated electric shavers, technology has moved on in leaps and bounds - hurrah, shaving is still tedious, but a whole lot easier.
One last thing, my wife has a Mach 3 handle etc to shave her legs et al and I am no longer dependant on wishing to change my Mach 3 blade and find that she has stolen the last one - my backup is there in the form of my Phillishave.
Excellent product, but it.

| Braun | 9595 | This top of the range Braun razor, apparently, does everything it says on the tin. It combines Gillette and Braun technology to provide an extremely close shave every time, while saving the user from razor burn/irritation. It also gives itself a thorough, clinical clean, to continue to provide close, irritant-free shaves... so how have I coped?
I do feel that this could be too fancy a razor for me. Let me try to explain:
Im a blonde guy, and can get away with shaving twice a week. In fact, I previously hated shaving because of the rash Id get 12 hours after scraping at my face. (Sensitive skin, what a pain!) I prefer to wet-shave using a Gillette Mach or a Wilkinson Sword - both of which gave me some/little rash. I also use an old Phillips electric razor, which Ive owned for 5 years, but I would only use this when travelling, as it does tend to give quite a bit of rash - which I used to counteract with loads of E45.
Anyway, this Braun is a proper gadget with all the knobs on that you could need, complete with a charging /cleaning station, a display to tell you how clean it is, how much charge is left, etc...
But to get to the point, it does a great job on my face. It shaves close, and Im suffering virtually no razor burn/rash from using it! (As said, sensitive skin!) Ill always keep a wet-shave razor as back up, but Ive not used it in 5 weeks, simply because this Braun has done a great job.
I assume the alcohol cleansing has been of help (making certain that the blades are super-clean, while avoiding infection through potential cuts) - but considering this razor is designed with the utmost of skin protection in mind - is this level of cleaning really necessary? To be honest, I dont care/know - it gives me a great shave, and thats all I care about.
The only drawback I can think of with this, is that its not entirely travel friendly (the base unit is not small). Saying this - a full charge provides you with 50mins of shaving time... if it takes you that long to shave, you need to do it more often! (So, giving it a full charge and taking with you for an overnight stay should be more than enough power/time.)
As said, being a blonde guy, I dont need to shave everyday, (I can get away with my almost transparent stubble for a few days), so the expense of this shaver could be questionable, but regardless of the cost - the closeness is fantastic - and this is something I cant argue about.
However, if youre a dark haired chap, I assume that you would potentially use it everyday day - maybe even twice a day, and in this instance, I cant recommend it enough.
In this case, for fair-haired guys, it might be worth going for the Braun series 5 or 6, but for any of you darker guys you should go for this Series 7. But no matter who you are, your money could be spent of something far, far worse. Enjoy! | | Amazon Reviewer | 24/12/2008 01:01:01 |

| Braun | 5875 | (BRAUN) CONTOUR SERIES ADVANCED 5000 SERIES RECHARGEABLE SHAVER (5875)
I am 52 and have wet-shaved since being a 16 year old teenager, and have suffered on and off according to the make up of the water, the type of wet shave blades, the lubricant/foam/gel used, the weather, the climate, you name it, its probably all affected my skin in various negative ways, and I have mostly (But intermittently..) carried a rash around for all those years.
At last I take the plunge and discover to my great surprise and pleasure that this shaver the Braun Contour 5875 is just the perfect tool for a guy who has suffered with all the negative problems I have suffered wet shaving.
The shaver is comfortable to hold has large rubberised grips and is simple to operate whilst shaving the 2 buttons and 1 slide for the trimmer being right under the fingers/thumbs they were intended for and easily reached. There is a charging socket at the base and a clear display which displays need to charge/charged - service me lights.
The charge takes about an hour, and the shaver could be taken on a 2 week holiday and give you a close shave for every day of that holiday. This shaver just glides through my especially tough beard, it is a little noisy but Im not planning any tactical situations while shaving.
The shaver leaves the skin smooth and and at last UNBLEMISHED! shaving rash is now gone, a thing of the past, I have seen my skin recover in three weeks and go smoother than I ever thought it would again.
Remember my age too! :)
servicing is a snip, as you just run the hot tap and stick the foil under it tipping it from side to side for a few moments, with the motor running (You see the beard wash out in like a shadow..) and then the razor is clean, I strip it apart (Press a button and it pops the foil casing off...) after this and blow it dry, re-assemble and stick it back in the very tightly wrapped travel case that comes with it. The case has air holes allowing further drying and a brush too if needed.
There is also a small applicator bottle of oil for the foil and blades which you drop a tiny amount onto the blades and foil around once a month.
I will still occasionally resort to the wet shave but only for weddings and dinners and special occasions and the like, and for the huge bulk of normal day to day shaves this Braun will be my favourite for sure.
This shaver doesnt need fancy lubricants, or weird applicators or hi-tech dipping baths. It just needs a regular charge and a good chin.
I recommend it to anyone looking for simple solid masculine reliability with soundly engineered technology. Five Stars!!

| BRAUN | 370 | This shaver is absolutely great, the shave and functionality are so good that it should be considered a DESIGN CLASSIC. I have bought numerous expensive £40+ shavers that break after a few months and none of them have been as good or reliable as my Braun 370. I need to buy another old model 370 now because the foil on mine has broken, but a new shaver is the same price as the foil. I don`t want to take the risk buying he new model in case it isn`t as good. | | Pauley85 | 12/03/2008 11:57:36 |

| BRAUN | 370 | I have had my Braun 370 for 4 years, it`s marvellous, great shave ! I`m going to buy another one now because spare parts are not available, but at this price the the whole shaver costs less than a replacement foil for some models ! | | Bob May, Swindon UK | 10/04/2006 15:36:52 |

| PHILIPS | Philishave HQ40 | I bought this razor at the airport as an wet shaving was irratating my skin. I then went on to buy a top spec Braun.

| PHILIPS | Philishave HQ40 | Gave up on my Remington RS4843 that I think cost over £50, as it had worn through it`s second VERY expensive set of foils in about eighteen months. This one cost me only £11.50 and I couldn`t believe that it is almost completely silent, I can hear the radio whilst shaving which I couldn`t before. It neither has or needs a trimmer, as it removes the long hairs without fuss. It finishes the job a bit faster and is smaller. The only criticism I have is that it doesn`t have a pouch. The fact that it is not rechargeable is no problem, as I simply keep a pair of `AA` rechargeables in the shaver and another pair ready to swap when needed. This was only intended as a stop gap but I now intend it to be permanent. | | Mike B | 10/01/2006 11:11:28 |

| BRAUN | 370 | I bought this shaver in an airport shop then forgot all about it! Just recently I started using the 370 on another trip and was delighted. The design is so clever, I get the feeling that some genius worked on it for years and then went to Braun, who snapped up his idea and bought the patents. (We"ll probably never know if ithappened like this.) I love this thing as much as my digital camera! It"s "cheap as chips" and a pleasure to use.

| Philips | HQ8150 | I purchased this shaver for a Christmas present for my hubbie. In the past he had only tried an electric shaver once and decided it really wasnt for him. He went back to daily wet shaves.
I got the phillishave after reading the reviews on here and am absolutely thrilled to say its as good as a wet shave! For the first week he had some rash on his neck but once he got used to the shaver its been fine. Easy to clean, much quicker than messing about with a wet shave and very very close.
No complaints at all here! Well worth the money. | | Amazon Reviewer | 15/01/2009 01:01:01 |

| PHILIPS | HQ4401 BLACK | I compare my new HQ4401 to an old style chaff cutter. I grind away for at least 6 minutes each morning and finally I get a reasonable shave. I don"t mention the fact that my face is red as a beetroot from all the grinding though. That would be unfair on Phillips. I took the product back and the agent had it checked out. They said there was nothing wrong with the thing but they also said the blades were not under warrantee even if they were at fault. Out ot 5 I give this shaver a 10- and would not recommend it to anyone. | | Dissatisfied customer | 06/04/2004 20:45:08 |

| PANASONIC | ES8093 | This is the best shaver ever. Its powerfull and it really gives you a very close shave, especially when you wet shave. The very best and closest shave can be obtained by using the KING OF SHAVES SHAVING OIL. Its a very small bottle and it may seem expensive but believe me its cheaper because you can get so many shaves out of a small bottle and its so much cleaner. Most important though is that you get a great shave.
Cleaning the Panasonic is so easy and the pivot head is great. Once again i shall repeat that it’s the best shaver i have ever come across.
This is a very honest and true review. I believe that if there is something good on the market, people should know about it. I bought this shaver after reading many reviews and I thank all those honest people who went to the trouble in writing a true review for others to read. It may be an expensive shaver, but I am a believer of the phrase "what you pay is what you get". Would you rather buy a cheap shaver and never have the pleasure in enjoying a true close shave? | | Rick | 21/02/2004 21:45:28 |

| PANASONIC | ES8093 | I decided to switch to an electric shaver after using a blade for 20yrs,but I needed a shaver that could take on a tough Mediterranean beard, in other words something that could be compared to a MACH3 Turbo shave. After searching the web for a staggering 2 weeks and sending a few e-mails asking for information, I decided to go for a foil shaver in which I was told had a closer shave than a rotary. I tried a Remington TCT but that was no way close to what I expected. I then went for the Panasonic ES8093 wet dry with that power motor and the swivel head. Well guys..That was it; I found what I was looking for. It had a good dry shave but the best MACH3 Turbo quality shave was obtained in the shower. Just a little gel and away you go. You can feel it really doing a great job. BUT....the next shave i just splashed a little cold water on my face and applied a thin layer of foam as directed in the manual and WOW, the results were even better, you don’t even have to apply any pressure.
I’ve been using the Panasonic for about one and a half months and it seems to be getting better and better. Cleaning the shaver is very easy and the LCD display showing how much battery life you still have is precise. The swivel head has 3 adjustments which is great when you start learning when and how to use them.
Bottom-line…………..WELL DONE PANASONIC. The only thing that remains to find out now is just how long will this powerful and perfect motor last. If it can give me 3-4yrs of use, then Panasonic have me for life. | | George Demetriades | 13/01/2004 10:46:29 |

| PHILIPS | HQ6762 | This limited edition model was made by Philips to celebrate the sale of 400 million shavers since 1939. The shaver itself is sturdily designed with a stylish high-gloss finish and comes in a neat semi-transparent hard plastic case which can store all of the accessories (the charger, beard trimmer attachment) and also has space for five Nivea cartridges (ten are supplied with the shaver). The shaver also fully charges in 1 hour, as opposed to 8 hours for previous models, and gives about 55 minutes shaving time. The quality of shave is superb and the Nivea cartridge soothes the skin as you shave. Highly recommended! | | santas little helper | 26/09/2003 15:46:50 |
