Currys

Currys started in Leicester in 1884 and are now one of the best known names in electrical retailing delivering products to over two million customers each year. They specialise in all white goods, smaller appliances, audio equipment, TV's, PC's etc through their superstores and high street shops. They are owned by DSG International plc a leading European retailer operating in 14 countries who, in 2006, re branded their Dixons shops under the Currys name. This now gives Currys an even larger presence in the high street allowing them to capture a wider share of the market. With over 550 stores now under the Currys name, they have come a long way since the days when Henry Curry started the business by building bicycles in his back garden! In fact, Currys continued to manufacture and sell bicycles right up until the 1960's, when it was decided to concentrate on electrical products.
