| | Unbranded | GLENKINCHIE 70cl Bottle | A mighty fine drink. Smooth and tasty unlike the peaty highland malts which are not to my liking. I personaly would prefer more of an after taste hence the rating.Definatly buy more and recommend to friends.I drink whisky neat so do not know how additives affect the taste. | | none whisky snob. | 26/06/2006 12:57:56 | | |
| | Unbranded | ARDBEG - 10yo 70cl Bottle | If you are a Laphroaig drinker like me, and like the peaty flavor and intensity, stay away. However, if you are new to the peat malt scene, you should start here. | | Piper617 | 05/12/2005 07:58:59 | | |

| | ISLE OF JURA | Superstition 70cl Bottle | The nose is a mixture of dark chocolate and sweet tobacco. Perhaps some orange. It`s definitely different from other malts, perhaps a faint resemblance of Dalmore Cigar Malt. However, whereas Cigar Malt is pretty good with its addition of Sherry, this one is isn`t. The palate is more on chocolate and tobacco with strong farmy flavors. There is some maltiness in there as well. The finish is short and unspectacular. Perhaps, it`s a matter of taste, but it seems that this whisky is flawed. The farmy off-flavor must be the peat, perhaps young and wet, but it`s different from the usual Islay-type enjoyment. Michael Jackson gave this whisky an 80; Serge Valentin awarded 76 points. They are both generous. If 75 is the low water mark for drinkable, Isle of Jura Superstition gets a 72. What am I going to do with the rest of the bottle? Wouldn`t want to spoil the Coke. | | Anon | 02/10/2008 14:23:08 | | |

| | Lagavulin | 16 year old Islay malt | I recently picked up the 16 year variety of Lagavulin and was impressed but this is not for the unseasoned scotch enthusiasts due to its complexity and strength. Go through and sample other variety`s and get acquainted with its character and flavors and work your way up to this particular malt. Its a beautiful dark amber in color and the nose cries of peat and smoke, some sherry sweetness in taste but still quite peaty with a smoother finish then I was expecting. feels very viscous on the tongue, `THIS IS A SIPPING SCOTCH`.. you might even add a bit of distilled water to dilute and open up the the variety of flavors.. | | Mather J Ketner | 19/10/2007 13:13:24 | | |
