Table Top Dishwashers Buyers Guide
Table Top Dishwashers, which are otherwise known as compact dishwashers, are becoming increasingly popular for use in relatively small households. With typical dimensions of 450 x 550 x 450 mm (height, width and depth), compact dishwashers appear very different to their full size and slimline relatives. Indeed, designed for use on typical kitchen work tops, table top dishwashers are essentially aimed at single-person households, whether the retired who find washing up difficult or students who quite simply do not want to wash up! The compact nature of these machines also makes them perfect for moving from place to place.
Rather obviously, compact dishwashers are not suited to family use, which represents the bulk of the dishwasher market in the UK. Indeed, the fact that table top dishwashers are so compact makes them suitable for only a limited number of dishes, cutlery, bowls and mugs. Some people who produce only limited washing up may reason that they can simply do the job themselves. However, compact dishwashers offer the same benefits as their larger counterparts: they wash dishes relatively quickly, leaving you to simply load and unload them. For most people, this means that they will eventually pay for themselves in the time that they can free up.
Compact dishwashers will vary considerably in cleaning performance and energy efficiency and buyers should be conscious of the rating that a particular model has been awarded. In the UK, performance and efficiency grades for dishwashers range from A (the best) to G (the worst) – it is advisable to purchase those dishwashers at category C and above. Furthermore, popular manufacturers of compact dishwashers will invariably offer models with a number of programmable settings, which is another important consideration. Since they are visible, appearance also matters.
