Table Top Freezers Buyers Guide
Table top freezers are a useful option for those of us who are limited for space. These compact appliances can sit on the top of a work surface, counter or table and, although there is some variation in size, they are usually somewhere around 50cm across each of the dimensions; height, width and depth. This size provides a storage space of 50 litres and upwards, depending on the internal layout and shelving inside the freezer.
As with any appliance it is advisable to opt for a model with a good energy efficiency rating of 'A'. However, the compact nature of these freezers means that most models will use a relatively modest amount of electricity in any case so this is less of an issue than with their full sized counterparts.
Shelving is offered in most table top freezers allowing you to separate food types. Two shelves are common although some will offer more. Think about what you're planning to store as to whether it will fit on the shelves. Also check if the shelving is removable to allow for the occasional storing of larger items and for ease of cleaning.
Thermostatic control is common to most freezers but may be absent in some of the cheaper models. If your food types demand variations in temperature and thus a high degree of control, this could prove to be a limitation. Reversible doors are another handy feature if the space in which the freezer is to reside only allows for the door to be opened in one direction.
Small freezers have become more popular in recent years resulting in a greater degree of choice so you should have little trouble in identifying one that will suit your food and your budget.
