I also bought this toaster based on the reviews on this site, only a few months ago, and I am already looking for a replacement.
The first slice of the day takes much longer than the rest. The sensor is erratic: I started with it set to 3, then after a while had to turn it down to 2 and then again to 1 (the lowest) because it began burning the toast. It also seems to brown one side much more than the other (the side without the sensor, typically).
This toaster cooks the bread first, then toasts it. The result is rock-hard crusts and dry toast. Isnt the whole idea of toast that it is crunchy on the outside and moist & chewy in the middle?

It can be fresh, frozen, stale (why?) or already toasted (again, why?)and the outcome will still be the same as there is a clever little infra-red sensor that watches your toast and pops it up when browned to the correct level.
There are a series of buttons on the front to choose the browning level (1-5), one or two sided toast and the bun warming option. A series of orange LEDs blink to indicate the current level of browning on the toast.
Be warned: the Infra red sensor is only fitted in the FRONT slot and doesnt monitor the back slot and the presumption must be that you will use two slices of the same bread at any one time. Dont use the back slot on its own or youll gat a nasty slice of carbon dated toast!!!
Despite this, the toaster is well built, looks nice and works well, highly recommended to all.
