I have had similar problems as above having to replace two PSUs and
Motherboard. That said it has been in almost constant use for 2.5 years
so can`t complain ... it is however about to be cosigned to the spare
room!

Had this machine for years and it still works fine, about to get a new
graphics card, and wondering what the problem with the motherboard is? I
haven`t had any problems with this computer, it`s not for gaming, but
otherwise it`s perfect.

It`s NOT the motherboard but the PSU that is the weak link. As soon as you
start to get errors check the voltages and you will probably find 12V on
the 5V rail! If you `scope the 5V rail you will probably see a huge level
of hum. Eventually the USB and keyboard will pack up as these draw the
most current from the 5V rail.
If you want to keep your computer running replace the PSU now, it`s 20quid
well spent!

yeah, my emachines 820 has recently stopped working, and i believe my
motherboard has gone in it, but i have had it for 3 years, so it aint to
bad

Nice computer all round accept (motherboard is aload of rubbish) if your
computer fails to come on, and it just flashes! than your motherboard has
blown) in other words your need a new P4 motherboard. this is common
problem with this machine and I have come across many of these models with
the same error!!
