Owned this model for 3 years 2 months, whilst in last spin 1600, one of the bolts holding the weight block on top sheered off and we heard a loud clunk in the machine and the spin noise was really loud considering it was meant to be a super silent model. I hit the stop, lucky was their as was informed had I not and the spin allowed to continue the remaining bolts could have sheered off to under stress and the block free to be launched around all the electric wire and water in/outlets, with dire consequences, unless it managed to trip the fuse before a fire broke out, bolts should not go, have hear of another machine make where the bolts had to be tightened and checked every 20 cycles and their machine was meant to be a more expensive (ie thought of as a better made model), other than this the washing machine when workings was really good, just a shame this half a bolt left behind in the machine, due to the fact the plastic housing for it is moulded to the front drum section, so cause it means replacing this whole front bit and 3 bolts (as other 2 will be weakened), has rendered it too costly to repair, so a machine that would have lasted the average family of 4 about 9 months to get the same number of washes we managed to get from it and they would have gotten a new one no questions, but the 2 of us it lasted just over 3 years, so we got to buy a new one, although have been offered something off a new one cause according to trading standards a standard washing machine should last an average family at least 6 years, excluding wear and tear items like brushes, the bolt isn`t a wear and tear item. maybe we just got unlucky with one with a bolt with a flaw in it, which could have gone on its first wash or its 3000th, but we worked out we got a wash for a £1 with it going so soon (excluding costs of electric, water and soap powder/liquid). but the machine did wash clothes well and having a stored program, saved having to set the normally used program every time and speed etc each time, so was easy for the hubby to learn to use it, no excuses ! so giving it a 3, 3 cause although when working it would have gotten a 4-5, but since it didn`t last due to what went on it, I can`t give it any more than a 3 and being generous with that.

Reviewed by: darryl Rating:1 out of 5 Date Reviewed:01Apr2008 | | | I have owned this washing machine for just under a year so it has had a good road test! I would say in our household of four adults it gets above average useage. It has to cope with a daily wash of horse riding gear and chef`s whites together with hockey kit, plus the usual round of towels and general clothing. I really can`t sing this washing machines praises highly enough; it has a capacious drum swallowing up a full set of king size bedding easily, it is quiet and reliable. It has a handy time delay so it comes on at night thus saving on my electricity bill. I have switched to washing nearly everything at 30 degrees and my washing comes out spotless. The chef`s whites I wash at 60 degrees and they are sparkling. I would thoroughly recommend this machine to anyone, I have always been a Hotpoint fan, but this machine deserves the winners medal!
