Bissell5200EThis cleaner is convenient for cleaning floors in that it is quick to fill, use, clean and store...how often have you taken longer to clean out a machine afterwards than it has taken you to do the job in hand..so I am impressed with this for that alone. Sadly, it is hopeless at hoovering and prefers to blow any dust and dog hairs clear of its path, so I have taken to hoovering with my old hoover before using this to wash the floors, which obviously defeats the object. Yes, it does drop dirty water drops across a clean floor and I have given up using the the fabric head fitting as it leaves my floor awash. I would price this machine at £50 tops because currently I think it is overpriced and despite cleaning and rinsing the brush head and dirty water tank between each wash, it still smells badly of dirty stale water for about 20 seconds into the next wash. P.S: Despite what the instructions say, I have been using a general household floor cleaner liquid which has worked just as well as the expensive stuff it says you must use.2 out of 5Amazon Reviewer11/12/2007 01:01:01

Bissell5200EA great idea ,unfortunately it failed to perform as well as the manufacters claimed. Drops dirty water on the floor youve just cleaned, not capable of removing anything other than surface dirt. GOBLINAquavacThe Goblin Aquavac is fantastic. I have used it in the car where its power to pick up bits stuck to the carpet is second to none. I regularly use it to pick up wet and soggy leaves in the garden; and I have even used it to empty muddy water from a water feature.I would recommend it to anyone who wants power and versality. 5 out of 5chazzy b26/09/2008 07:30:04

NUMATICCTD900-2I`ve got two of these machines and got the first one back in 1991. The are unbelieveably reliable and versatile. Big enough to cope yet small enough to get up stair cases etc. Imagine trying to get larger machines so as those made by prochem up a staircase when they are full of water. They would weigh a ton and so you would need two men. 5 out of 5Anon09/04/2008 08:14:31

HOOVERS6254It is a dream, have owned one for last 1+ year, works beautifully on both wet and dry surfaces, is a dream to use for shampooing with results actually showing once the carpet or upholstery dries out, comes with a manufacturers supplied shampoo as well.

You can actually see it draw dust out of the carpets at home, and the accessories are quite adequate. The only complaint i could probably have is the time it takes to switch it from dry to wet mode and vice versa.

NUMATICCTD900-2i have owned this machine for 3 years and it is wonderful, cleans all laminate flooring as well as carpets and ceramic floor tiles superbly, i have done all these with it and they are dry so quickly, the suction to remove the liquid is wonderful. do not confuse this floor cleaner with cheaper models, i previously owned a vax and the floor was very wet for over 24 hours and the end result was nowhere near so clean. i just wish the spares were more readily available 5 out of 5jane bb10/01/2006 11:11:11

VAX6151SX BLACKGreat hoover with plenty of tools that come with it, although I expected the carpet cleaner to remove stubborn stains but it couldn"t, it seems to just lift the dirt and from all of the carpet so stubborn stains may need vanish on first. VAXRapide ClassicThis is a basic model with no tools for doing furniture or stairs but it does exactly what it is supposed to do on carpets. Unlike the over-engineered and unreliable Bissell equivalents, it is simple to use and doesn`t have a lot of internal pumps, valves and pipes to clog up or go wrong. The tanks are not particularly big and you need to use a non-foaming detergent, otherwise the float in the dirty water tank will cut off suction way before the tank is really full. Also, don`t be tempted to keep the detergent release trigger pulled all the time because if you do, the machine will tend to flood and pour detergent out onto the carpet when you stop to empty the dirty water tank. All in all, good value for money if you want a straight forward carpet cleaner that does what it says on the tin. 4 out of 5Roger - Fareham05/02/2008 10:52:20

VAXVac n MopThis is a great product for hard floors - cleans very effectively. Unfortunately I have found that the nozzle bit keeps coming off especially when knocked against skirting. I have double checked and nothing appears broken. I personally feel it is a bit fragile. It also does not stand on its own and being a bit top heavy when filled with water (the machine is very light to use) trying to rest it against a wall will not work as the machine topples. I would be happier to see it remodled to cope with these small but irritating problems. 4 out of 5Anon02/04/2006 08:01:40

VAXRapide XLI cannot believe the negative comments here. The filthy water from nearly new carpets speaks for itself. Surely the results are worth the effort. If mine packed up it would be replaced immediately. 4 out of 5Martin,02/04/2006 07:59:32

VAXRapide XLI have to disagree with all the previous comments - my Vax works like a dream! I have a cream carpet in the main bedroom and it had become really quite grubby. I didn`t think one clean alone would be enough, but it came up looking like new - even fluffed up the pile.

Sure the carpet was damp afterwards - but surely you don`t expect it to be dry when you`ve just washed it?? It was by no means sodden, just damp. You have to go over it first to soap it, then again to rinse it, then finally to soak up any excess moisture...perhaps they were omitting this last stage??

And yes, it is cumbersome - but considering what it does, it`s a pretty neat design and I can`t see how it could be made any smaller without reducing the size of the fresh and waste water tanks.

Very pleased with mine - at least it gets me off my hands and knees!

Bissell1698JA good cleaner but unfortunately, has one or two design faults.

The bottle that dispenses shampoo has a neck whose screw thread will eventually wear out in about 1 month of frequent use. We're on our second. Furthermore, the mechanism that allows you to tilt it via the handle has a foot switch that well, breaks!

This one's going back to the shop...

VAXVS-30I purchased one of these vs 30 machines in Oct 2005. It has given me two years of good service. Now however I need to replace the squeedgy brush and the squeedgy wash pad. I contacted my local vax agent who ordered one each of these. This was five weeks ago. I contacted the agent twice after this. Each time I was told that the parts are on `Back order`. They are all made in China and there is no guarantee that they will come anytime soon. My agent said that Vax were `dreadful` when it came to spare parts. I have tried to contact the firm by phone & e mail. My phone call was put in a queue each time, then eventually cut off. I was told,`All our advisers are busy`. This leads me to believe that there is no point in trying to contact Vax and that they probably do not wish to be contacted. My e mail would not `submit` when I pressed the appropriate button. Consequently I rate this product 2 out of 5 and would advise would be purchasers to beware of the pitfalls before purchasing. Gill Dawson Gloucestershire 2 out of 5Anon31/07/2007 08:02:03

GOBLIN70222It`s a great idea, badly implemented. The water cables get in the way (often) and it does leak water when trying to shampoo carpets - mine leaks out of the handle. Also, it`s a swine to get the end nozzle off the pipe to clean into corners etc. - I`ve broken the nozzle part twice now doing this (to their credit though, their customer service people were excellent and sent me a replacement part immediately). If you can get it cheap then it`s not too bad - it will clean carpets well and vacuum, but it`s a bad design. 2 out of 5Becky30/01/2007 17:21:23
